Originally posted by aesperus This is really EVERYTHING. Even if people aren't immediately blown totally away, this game is going to keep them coming back from the other, lesser games around. I think it's the lack of competition that will make GW2 seem like it exceeded everyone's expectations. People clearly are hoping GW2 will be good (which is what some call hype), but what constitutes "hope" right now is desperately low. Anything that presents a polished, complete experience is going to seem like a miracle. And I have no doubt that ANet is delivering that. On top of that, though, are 2 more key ingredients. 1) I suspect the game as a whole is a lot bigger overall than people think. and 2) People will be amazed by how involved the dev team will be post launch and the continuous stream of coolness that flows out of Bellevue. Once they no longer have to focus entirely on the initial launch, I think they'll start to get a little crazy with the innovations on top of their basic framework. This is just the beginning. Charr: Outta my way. |
