If you want a gear grind at the end, play something else. If that's your cup o' tea, then nothing I can do or say will convince you GW2 is fun for you. I don't even know what you are asking, bth. If GW2 doesn't look fun to you, don't play. If you have a question about a certain system, ask. If the answer is easy to obtain, then you should do the research yourself. No GW2 is not a gear grind. No there is no "end game" so to speak. The end game is THE GAME. Once you finish level, you don't just magically start a different portion of the game. You can do DE, craft, PvP, run through dungeons, etc. I can tell you from experience with GW1, dungeons designed by Anet are HARD. UW and FoW and DoA have never been nerfed in GW1. In fact, I think they've only been buffed to combat certain builds. Just because one game doesn't meet your qualifications to be "fun" doesn't mean it won't be a good game, and fun for others. Attempting to discredit a game because it doesn't fit your views instantly destroys all credibility of your post, and you will be viewed as something that lives under a bridge. You may have thought GW1 was terrible, I thought it was fun. There are probably other people on this forum (this is a GW forum after all) that agree with me. Just because you thought GW1 was terrible doesn't mean someone couldn't possibly have fun in GW. I know I logged more hours into GW than I did WoW when I was playing.
Finally, don't throw around phrases like "the majority of players" and talk as if you are representivative of the whole. Unless you have statistics from a reliable source to back up your claim, you need to speak for yourself. When you start trying to talk as if you a representative of the MMO communityas a whole (unless of course the MMO community has elected you as a representative, but I haven't gotten the memo about choosing a representative) , your credibility instantly decreases. |

OP, you already think the game is boring and said you won't, likely, be playing it. You want people to make a convincing argument? You've already really made up your mind. In my opinion, you're not cloaking that very well by using the word "likely" about not playing it.
I'm so tired of these threads started by people who really have no interest in playing GW2, yet want those that do to spend their time trying to convince them the game is worthy. What a joke. Seriously, no. It's just a waste of time. President of The Marvelously Meowhead Fan Club |

Originally posted by coretex666 Gear grind is a low cost added features to keep people playing the game. There is much more to adding content to a MMO than just added raids and grinds. Look at what content use to be and what they are now. Added instances and new gear use to be just patchs now they are content updates. |

Originally posted by Thorbrand Dont get me wrong. I do not claim it is the best way. I also do not insult the way GW is doing it. I do mind that someone calls people brainwashed for wanting gear/item progress in MMO. Also gear grind was not invented yesterday. Pre-WoW MMOs had that already, like Lineage which is 10+ years back. Back then it was fine, now we are all brainwashed Playing: Nothing atm My game concept thread: http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/369707 (any feedback appreciated) |

Well they can always offer rewards in terms of cosmetic items. There can never be enough customization ;) For PVP i don't know if there are any cosmetic armor or weapons as an award though. I have just started learning about this game. GW2 wasn't even on my radar till this week. |

This thread is a clear exemple of someone that's so focused on the carrot that he never sees the journey he's taking. Alot of games have conditioned players to do so, i play games to have fun, to actually enjoy the journey and the destination.

Not a bad thing for me! I'm glad GW2 is headed down that path. Enter a whole new realm of challenge and adventure. |

If im not mistaken...gear is setup in a way where you need to make choices rather than one best set..anyone know more?
I have to be honest with you. We have completely blown up the design of EverQuest Next. For the last year and a half we have been working on something we are not ready to show. Why did we blow up the design? The design was evolutionary. It was EverQuest III. It was something that was slightly better than what had come before it. It was slightly better. What we are building is something that we will be very proud to call EverQuest. It will be the largest sandbox-style MMO ever designed.--Smed |

The fact that GW2 isn't using the Skinner box method is its most appealing feature. We've gone through enough operant conditioning. |

nope. its why i have such high hopes for it. raids have always been poor pve end game content. if you like it fair play. but i'd rather have a challenge that isnt because i dont have the right gear Currently playing- SWG PreCU & GW 2 |

But bottom line is that different playstyles will benefit from different stats on different gear sets. "Loading screens" are not "instances". |
