In Rl, probably 2. Though last week when I went to buy my headset, I got into a convo with some guy working the till and turned out he's getting it too. So 3.

One, me.  GF might if the PVE looks good to her.

Most that I know either went back to WoW after SWTOR, stayed in SWTOR, or dropped MMORPGs and went back to SP RPGs.

me and a few of my guildies from vanilla + TBC before it became CRAP.

I can't think of any of my real world mmorpg game players who isn't going to play gw2.

Edit:  Not saying they are playing because it will be the greatest game ever.  IMO, they are going because it will be fresh.

If we're talking RL anyway. I don't know of anyone from my guild playing either, but some may, being a PVP guild. Most didn't play GW1 though, so I have no idea if they'll jump into two. I know chat was pretty negative toward it back in January.

This is a cool story though. M ywife, who is a high school principal, was in a meeting last week. She leaned over and saw an assistant principle's ipad and saw the GW2 logo. After her meeting she mentioned it. The lady said, oh heck yeah, we have a dozen teachers where i work who are all going to be in a guild together. What was funny, is she said, please don't tell anyone, we can't let our students know we play games with them, My wife, in all her usual political posturing, said, well of course, my lips are sealed :)  Then she comes home and tells me she was bursting inside to say something.

I can only imagine teachers trolling students for a bit of revenge hehe.  My best friend's father is a teacher and it always amazed me when other kids would be over at his place and they'd learn, hey, the guy is just a normal human being! Crazy notion!

I work at a game studio so I'm sure many people here will give GW2 a shot at least, there are no plans to really play together.  I tried doing that with SWTOR with my boss, his family etc.  Unfortunately, I wasn't so into SWTOR so it was like..

"D... where were you?  You were expected in the meeting" and I'd be like which meeting?  Of course, my boss meant online to tackle some flashpoint :p

About 6 people I know have had their fair share of playing MMORPGs. About 8 people I know are active gamers. About 10 people I know plan on playing GW2.

Pretty much my old GW alliance is planning to do so.  Already have a standing invite from them to join their new guild when the game starts.

Negative 7 people who play MMO's and negative 4 more who play other games will be playing.  Also, and I do consider him a friend, Jesus will be doing Judgement Day this year, so he can come back and play.

NOT including people who already owned Gw1 and worked on their HOM....

That's an awful lot of FPS gamers who generally never liked most MMO's. I'm still not sure they chose this particular Sequel to branch into another genre, but it'll be fun have something new to play with them finally instead of the 300th play session of DE_dust or PL_Goldrush...
