Hm. Could be true, but some of the people here must just enjoy her as a voice actor/actual actor.

For me - I couldn't care less. She looks atractive, and that's pretty much it. I don't know her as an actor (don't remember in House, or in Lie to Me, as the filmography in Wiki sais), but that's totally okay with me.

And you suggestion is completely unnesecary. "Get a wife/gf/beloved one". Does that show how mature you are just because you have one? No it doesn't. Men are men and if they want, they will still think about other women. Most likely actors. Will that be Scarlet Johansson boobs or just Zooey Deschanel being cute, or Sasha Grey (who knows :D). That doesn't make them bad people because they like how certain actors look. I, for example, admire Olivia Wilde. Ofc not only her looks, but her roles and all that. 

Soooo, back to the point... Actually, did I have one? Probably not. Nor did you. Thread is quite neccessary, because the OP at least can find someone with interests like him, which, in this case, is this voice actress.

I first saw her in TV commercials. First a Cheetos commercial, then a York Peppermint Patty commercial, then something else (I tend to take notice when I see the same person in multiple commercials). Then I heard about "The Guild" and there she was again, this time with a name attached to her.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I tend to like nerdy women, and she's got a definite cute-nerd "look" about her. I cant say I'm a fan of her acting since I've never actually watched The Guild or anything else she's acted in, but I dont think its difficult to grasp that some people are.

And you know what? The same goes for women. Finding another person attractive, whether you're single or otherwise, is 100% normal. Even if your significant other, to you, is the most attractive person on the planet, every other woman/man does NOT instantly turn into the fugly bear.

Jealousy is the less likely of motivations IMO in most situations.

Well I am just guessing here but it could be jealosy because they believe they could do what she does just as well but they arn't getting paid for it like the subject of the thread.

It's a bit like Modrn Art you know what I can do most of the stuff modern artists do to be brutally honest danm near anone of us could  (like hammer a nail into a wall, sneeze into a tissue, fingerpaint) the difference is I can't make up 20 pages of drival as to why that represents anythng and so when I do it I don't get my million dollars and my snotty hanky in an art gallery.  The result I tend not to like modern art and yes it's partly because of jealousy that I could do that why the hell is that guy getting paid for it.

Personally I find the woman rather grating, possibly because I suspect there's something insincere about the image being portrayed - but then I'm a cynical bastard anyway. The relevant voice cast video seemed rather good so I'll be looking forward to that in-game, but my toes do rather curl when the collective panting begins.

Eh, most people have celebrity crushes on someone, be they a mainstream celeb, or a lesser-known "pseudo-celebrity" like Felicia Day.

I mean...I dont...but most people do.

I enjoy watching Felicia and love 'The Guild'.  It is a satire and very funny.  I mean, lol funny.

I love the video My Avatar.  It's a great spoof on real life players but done in an empathetic way.

I have nothing against Felicia Day. I'm not a fan, but I have enjoyed some of her work and also like when any woman in the public spotlight can openly embrace their inner geek. I think it becomes pretty absurd, though, when people attack her for being a "poster child" for geek girls. Girl gamers are as diverse as women in general. I don't think anyone believes that Felicia Day is the gold standard of female geeks that all others are compared to. She's just an average looking character actress who has devloped a following among some people for not being the typical, air brushed beauty that the media tries to tell us all female celebrities need to be.

I mean really, who is anyone to judge someone else's "geek credentials"? High doses of judgementalism, self rigtheousness and personal feelings of insecurity provide fertile ground for the seeds of jealousy.

If the resentment stems over a feeling of being slighted by what one sees as a stereotypical mis-representation of gaming geeks as portrayed in "The Guild", I'd say those people just need to get over themselves.

Besides, Felica Day fans are just embracing their own inner geekdom by encouraging someone they feel they can relate to. Who is anyone to try to demean others for their choice of geek icon?

There are a lot of geeky persuits for things I can't relate to, but I don't judge those people for their interests. There are also people who go histerical over celebrities for whom I just can't comprehend the appeal, but I don't judge others for their choice of idols.

In the end, most non-righteous anger projected on others is just a projection of darkness from within and we can't even always agree on the righteousness of someone's anger, or ignore the darkness of that anger, even if righteous.

Felicia Day doesn't make you hate her. You have to take full responsibility for your own negative reactions to her and words or actions that result. You might want to ask your self why this person makes you act in such an ugly manner and maybe uncover and diffuse the source of darkness, hate and anger within.

Please point out where I said she was jealous. I said some people in this thread were being hypocritical and were misguided. 

What amazes me about the people tearing down Felicia is that not one of you have commented on the clearly sexist posts in this thread. Apparently Felicia doing her job (acting) is so abhorrent as to destroy the very fabric of female gaming, but those making sexist and messaganistic comments don't even warrent attention. What would you call the motivation given the evidence in this thread... Concern for female gamers does not truly seem to be one of them. 

Now if people on here want we can truly talk about how to make female gaming better. Tearing down an actress which has never professed to represent female gaming is not productive and smacks of pettiness.

She actually played mmos.

She actually wrote a web series based upon her personal experience.

People enjoyed the series and now she gets a lot of press among gamers.

What made you the authority of who is better? People are calling you out on being jealous because you are endlessly making a mootless point. No one really cared about she makes money or how she fares compared to other "game-girl" people until you brought it out off your head for whatever reason.

You talk about her mis-representing girl gamers? Perhaps in the 90s when they wered considered a rare species that would be a valid concern. However, in this day and age, that stereotype has already been broken. No one is treating her as a "gamer girl" as much as no one is treating you as a girl gamer. Nowadays, we are all gamers. If we were to actually step down on your level, we would judge you as the one mis-representing girl gamers for being stubborn on a subject ultimately no one really cares about - a.k.a. shallow.
