I'm not a fanboi, but I'm baffled that people insist that this game doesn't even suggest any interesting or unique features. We must be reading different things. Can you name another MMO RPG that is taking the approach ArenaNet has demonstrated with GW2? I can't.
They're completely changing the idea of class archetypes in a way that has huge implications for group interaction in both PvE and PvP. They are attempting to innovate on the quest and world even mechanics of modern day MMOs. There is a different philosophy to content and level requirements that will potentially change the old ways of thinking of content and leveling as a linear process. Standard approaches to class abilities and specializations are being reworked with their concepts of weapon sets. 3 faction PvP, a comprehensive stat tracking and ranking system.
I don't know everything about every game. But I really have never heard of some of the things listed above until this game started releasing details. I understand that there's a community of rabid fans surrounding this game, but I'm also starting to realize that there is a community of "haters" who aren't necessarily voicing their opinions about the game so much as they're trying to deflate the excitment of others.
So I'll ask again, which games have implemented (or are talking about implementing) some of these innovations? |
