Hey guys i was browsing gamestop and i found this on their website "If your looking for one, you should closely compare it to another game that went into closed beta, in a similar fashion, a month earlier than guild wars 2, and its coming out 5/1... the game will be done when its done, this year, you'll see an open beta around that month and thats when you know its close to release. The company has poured their lives into this game, off the clock and on the clock, on a daily basis, those of you who are in beta, please support them as much as you can. Thanks! ~RB2" |

I know the what. I am asking the why. It seems unnecessary, and it could be very annoying inside the game. Not to mention immersion killing like crazy. "There are two great powers, and they've been fighting since time began. Every advance in human life, every scrap of knowledge and wisdom and decency we have has been torn by one side from the teeth of the other. Every little increase in human freedom has been fought over ferociously between those who want us to know more and be wiser and stronger, and those who want us to obey and be humble and submit." — John Parry, to his son Will; "The Subtle Knife," by Phillip Pullman |

Any reason to not buy this through gamefly? 10% off with promo code GFSPRING11 and it says you get access to all betas as well as the 3-Day Headstart Access. http://www.gamefly.com/Download-Guild-Wars-2-Standard-Edition/5003824/ |

I went ahead a pre-ordered at Gamestop yesterday for GW2 and Tera. I rather have a box in my hand than the digital version. Then I checked the ArenaNet website for info on the Deluxe and Collector's Editions and was not moved to change my decision. Not a knock on anyone who did but those extras seem rather lackluster. And as far as beta access, I don't even have the desire to go back to Gamestop for my serial number to active it. But I will be buying GW2 day 1 and enjoying it at my leisure.
It's just too bad I cannot give my access to beta to anyone else who could put it to good use as the serial number is linked to my original and GW2 accounts. Oh well.

I am kinda hoping that beta will start at the end of the month. My family has gaming night planned that weekend and I would like to take my pc to show my niece GW2 and have her play a character. |

Well, just something to throw out there, they said if you want to upgrade from the regular edition, to the digital deluxe, they would offer a way to later, so if someone is unsure, you can go the cheaper route and then if you change your mind, they are supposed to offer a way to upgrade before launch...I don't think I will be, but just putting it out there...Could save someone money, if they are unsure.

Guild Wars 2 will release by 27/6. Why else the tag of 'code expires 6/26' I've been saying it for months, but this only solidifies my opinion that we'll see the game launch in June. |

I got my CE and my code; but according to what I've seen, the game will bring only one DVD disc for the whole installation? It is this enough or I will need to download a massive amount to upgrade to a playable version when the game comes alive? Sadly where I live right now my connection is limited to 6GB monthly : / |

I know they say the game requires 25 gigs on this page at the bottom. However, I'm pretty sure these numbers are subject to change and that they tend to give an overestimate in these situations. A DVD holds what? 9 gigs? SWTOR is the greatest mmo ever! |

You get that no matter what. I don't know if there are reasons not to, but those "bonuses" are standard with any pre-purchase and are not a reason to get it there. Has anyone pre-ordered from Best Buy? If anyone did, can you tell me if you get an Beta event code from them? I've never pre-ordered anything from Best Buy so I don't know how they work. Do they email you the code when the time comes or do A-Net email you the code or do you have to stop by at the Best Buy and pick up the code?

Sooo....a friend just got invited to a very sudden gw2 stress test (no really, a friend...not me *cries and dies a little inside*). He did pre-purchase but he didn't get invited under the e-mail he used for the pre-purchase, so it must've been random invites sent out. Makes me wonder if they got such a high volume of pre-purchases that they're worried about server stability. EDIT - he just told me - after ranting and raving that I deserve it more than him and if he let me play his account I'd do things for him that'd make a cheap hooker go "omg!" - it only lasts 6 hours, and it seems pretty out of the blue. Originally posted by Alot Pfft, I've been in more betas than...actually I'm failing to think of anything clever atm. But yeah, I know stress tests suck. I remember eons ago, stress testing for Ragnarok Online and having like 2fps. I would totally endure it just to play with the character gen for 6 hours. Originally posted by Lunnian A stress test is a beta which focuses on seeing how far they can push the servers. Typically it's a test based around how many people they can cram onto a server before it crashes, breaks, or just becomes unbearable. Not one of the more fun tests, =P. |
