I'm curious does anyone know if we pre PURCHASE GW2 do you get a box copy mailed to you or just digital?

i cant find the link now but i read last night that ANET explained that for people who pre-ordered long before april 10th at any retail store (i did 2 years ago), you have to go back to the store and pre-purchase (im going soon)

That said, yes you can pre purchase physical copies. IF you pre purchase digital then you get digital only

If you pre-purchase from Arenanet, totally digital. If you pre-order in Europe from a retailer, you will likely get a pre-purchase box, with out a CD and the code will also be your retail game code.

For U.S. retailers, I know Gamestop will just put the pre-purchase code on your reciept, not positive about Amazon (digital code?) or Best Buy. For U.S., your pre-purchase code is NOT the retail code, so you will need to get the retail box on launch. So save your reciept.

so only if I purchase a CE will I get a box in NA.. Game stop and Best Buy are only offering the CE as Pre Purchase...

wait.. so we gotta go and buy it again? as in we pay all of the money if we havent already? or as we get our money back and just order it again?

you go pay in full for the pre purchase box = codes for your account, THEN upon launch you go pick up your game using the reciept you got from your pre purchase.

Basically you are doing a pre order with full purchase.

In NA you'll get the retail box at launch, but you probably won't get a pre-purchase box. There is no pre-purchase box from Gamestop, not sure about Amazon and Best Buy. All three will have a retail box at launch, though.

It's confusing, not sure why all the differences.

US: No pre-purchase box, but retail box, SE and CE, at launch. (Assuming Amazon and Best Buy work like Gamestop).

EU: Pre-purchase box, no SE retail box, but of course the CE retail box, at launch.

The topic title suggests a question of "Should I get Box or Digital copy?"

I would answer that with Digital ALWAYS.  By no means am I a tree-hugger (my car gets 12-15mpg) but why waste all that extra material/garbage when everything important is digital download anyway?

I suppose if you want to get the collectors edition that comes with (in my opinoin) extra garbage, then thats obviously the thing for you.  Also, how many people complain and cry about boxed copies not being available in time for early access?  Pretty difficult to miss your early access when you're a digital customer!

I guess another factor might be your internet speed?  Personally, I download at 2mbps average so I wouldn't blink an eye at a 10-20 gig download.

Amazon CANNOT prepurchase.  ANET already spoke about that.  Something about their policies of not charging until shipment.

If you order from them, you won't get your codes.  Best Buy and Gamestop are it as of today (for prepurchase starting tomorrow).

Im buying the box for the tchotchkes.  I like the statue and the prints.  I don't have to worry about early access since you have up to 5 extra days to register your key after launch.

I'm asking if you get a box copy if you pre purchase.  and it has been answered.  in NA only Best buy and Gamestop are offering CE Box Pre Purchase.  No other box copies are available in North America.  AMAZON is offering Pre Purchase but it does not indicate if you get a box copy or digital.
