Theres a difference between False Hype and Real Hype.
False Hype comes from companies that have NDAs up 1 week till launch. Have certain bullet points or sterotypical canned responses in their Q&A such as:
There is tons of evidence for false hype but let me tell you something about GW2. Everything that is being said about it comes from actual knowledge within the game. How can you possibly say its false hype when people such as myself have played the game and loved it, or watched hundreds of hours of in game footage and like it.

So how does the "Hype-Level" meter on this site fit in to that definition. That could be "over hyped" as in the meter being too high. Hiding behind a dictionary is never good. |

Originally posted by Xthos In that case, I look forward to kicking Heartless' CS'd ass in the mists. Going back to the topic at hand (i.e. hype). I am very excited (hyped) about GW2 and can't wait to get my paws on it. I still don't see why people have an issue with other people's excitement over a game. I understand the whole getting burned by games, God knows I have been burned many times by poorly executed games (TOR, Rift, Aion, AoC, Warhammer, etc). As long as the excitement is reasonable and based on facts and not made up/rumor, I see no problem with it. Let the negative nancy's of the world pout in the corner, I have no problem with that |

EA Games needs to stop making video games. Unlike Midas, everything they touch turns into shit. |

Originally posted by brody71 I don't see one. I don't see the reason for attacking, or defending "hype". And I see even less point in discussing the amount of hype a game gets and what that means to the game. The will be what the game will be. I don't care; put the game in my hands for 10-15 hours to try it out, and I'll decide if I want to buy it. I'm not saying this to sound "superior". Matter of fact, I say it because I think most people feel the same way.

Originally posted by Master10K Wish the trolls would go back to playing WOW/TOR and leave us who are interested in discussions of substance alone. From what I gather, in regards to the CS, many opinions, very little fact. There is so much more to GW2, surely there are more interesting things to discuss |

Originally posted by Robsolf and this is what will happen. You'll probably see 1.5-2.5 million sales initially. NCsoft will love it, Anet will be happy and those who never really wanted to play the game or their competitors will whine, cry, and bash the game. But the product will be in people's hands and no matter what is said, they will play it or not based on their in game experience. Most people already know what to expect based on all the gameplay footage out there. That is where the so called hype is coming from. All the gnashing is just the butthurt people who don't like the flavor of the game, or the way they are enforcing it. For once, I'm glad they finally made a game that has the ingredients that I like in a game, it's been a long time waiting for one. I wished it were SWTOR, since i prefer sci-fi over fantasy themes, but oh well. This will do.
