Originally posted by loeslein You're exactly right. What people don't really understand yet, is loot in this game is more about customization than it is about power. Yes, gear gives you a boost to you're character's strength, but it's not nearly on the same level as it is in other games. It's more about getting the weapon that looks the way you want, and has the right mix of stats you want. Every class shares the same 8 stats, with 2 their profession. This means there will be a LOT of customization in terms of weapon stats. Say you're build calls for a staff that is more heavily in power & crit, but you have another defensive build that calls for daggers that are more heavy in toughness and health, or toughness & conditions. There's a lot to take into account, it's much less a case of 'wheres the best weapon in the game', and more of a case of 'which weapon fits my playstyle the best, how do i get it, and how do i make it look the way I want?' |

Originally posted by VowOfSilence There is something that is done with some expansions though, character progression locks. LIke say AA in AOC, it is basically the same thing as an indoctrined system designed to gimp you unless you purchase said Xpac. This could easily be added to the base game, but it never was. Originally posted by Distopia That's actually a really good point. One of the few actually valid concerns I've seen on these boards. What I can say is that they didn't do it with the first game. While it doesn't appear like they would start doing that with the second one, it's very much of a 'we'll just have to wait and see' type of deal. If they did do that, I would be very annoyed. |

Originally posted by Deleted User not sure how defending CS is ridiculous, some people enjoy paying for fancy mounts , or some cool peice of clothing, ect... I dont let what others do ingame interfere with my fun, all that matters to me is that my friends are on and that we get to go out and have a good time and some laughs. |

Originally posted by Distopia Ya.. this actually happened a bit in the first game. It took a while, but as time went on it got harder and harder to avoid getting expansions. You could still PvP alright, it was just harder, and many of the best builds were using the newer skills. That said, you didn't need to buy any of the expansions to complete any of the PvE content, but there were definitely incentives to buy the new expansions when they came out. However, that's kind of the point of the business model. You aren't paying for a sub & an expansion, and they need to make money somehow. So, they do need to do something to make you want to buy the new expansions or they'd be broke. So instead of gimping those that don't have the expansions, they make the ones that do get the expansions seem much more awesome. |

Originally posted by aesperus Yeah, I do recall that as well in GW1. Factions to Nightfall was very noticable if I recall correctly. Vanilla to Factions wasn't so bad though. Originally posted by aesperus This is one of my concerns, but see, when I saw the leak stuff the xp bosts that aren't stackable is only used for mobs, not events, so if you just do events you'll be fine regardless, if you just grind mobs... Like events are the actual things that level you up, skill points, dungeons, personal story. Grinding mobs really don't if you look at how much xp is given. The boosts just make it to where you gain a tad bit more experience by killing mobs but the events give the same. The keys aren't needed if you just buy a golem butler they unlock the chest lol. If your impatient or just don't have time, go buy a key to unlock em or play earn money/karma, get a butler. If they take the butler out, that can be another conern or worry. Grind really isn't in the game which is fortunate, but even without grind some people just don't have time to play games, so they may pay to catcha up with others, but no one can buy anythingto distance themselves from someone else stat wise. Maybe inventory space, that golem, salvage kits that(Don't work while in combat lol), and etc. What's in red is for any other claims.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ns-IIn-DG-c Try to argue this please. Oh also if you quote me and it's to argue my point, if I don't respond it means I haven't been corrected by you and/or I haven't seen it. Remember I don't mind admitting I am in the wrong. Take care :D |
