i was intent on prerodering 10th april and now i dont even know if i want to buy the game. i dont want to play a game full of people that will take any crap from the devs/publisher because i know in the long run the game will suck because criticisms will be drowned out with " WOW had the same problems on release", " you havent even played to max level", "go back to WOW" etc etc.

i dont know if im the only one that gets turned off game by fanboyism, there are probably more people out there so i think its best to take that into consideration and be a bit more welcoming and less aggresive/vile when someone criticises gw2 or questions its "greatness". i would like to see gw2 do well (more compeition=better games for us) but games wont do well if developers cannot hear the players complaints.

I understand what you mean, but have you even gone to Guild Wars 2 Guru? I mean, anytime there's a new feature or idea of the game that generates controversy there's a giant tsunami of fans claiming about it and lots of threads and post on how to make it better. The problem is that a lot of these fans just whine about everything, while some others protect the game at all costs, but that doesn't change the fact that the game has been seriously modified since we saw the first demo almost 2-3 years ago. A lot of it because of the fans whining.

Most devellopers never show their game, or just show 1 aspect of it that is the "new innovation" (and only one) they have, and they have all their fans supporting the game, untill it's released and it survives for like, 3 months.

Do you know why people think Guild Wars 2 will be different? Because ArenaNet devs have been changing the game according to players feedback, whether they are fans or not, whether they play mmorpgs or not. And those changes aren't things made in a rush, they are things that get through many different tests untill it satisfies them and the players. They go from little things like walking and eye colors to dramatic changes like the the sylvari. Fans don't support the game because it's god-like. they support the game because they know that if something changes, they will talk about it and ArenaNet devs will hear them. And if something isn't showed officially by ArenaNet, then it's not to concern much untill it is, because it will probably change untill then.

Just curious, what are you grinding for?

From what I have read, you get bumped up in WvW, and the PvE has some sort of system for that too. I dont get it.

My main issue are the ones that have been claiming for the past year that the game will not be PVP focused at end game.  It's not the be all, end all of MMOs.  It is innovative, but it doesn't appeal to everyone.  I think GW2 is way overhyped and I won't be buying it as I find D3 much more interesting in the near term.

The crux is, like you can't judge a book by its cover, weve now learned you cant judge an MMO by its marketing campaign.

most people arent defending gw2 per se, theyre probably just defending ANet because theyre so awesome. it doesnt really matter as there are so few gw2 haters.

in any case, youre as annoying as the haters, because youre hating on the haters.

That's really stupid reason to not play a game. If I like the game it certanly won't take a few fanbois to turn me off... I choose to ignore them...

Also, I have no idea what are those craps we would take from devs? Everything so far is good, and I know you're targeting the cash shop (which was altered during the beta weekend so you can't even know what was removed from it then, not to mention you have no slightest clue what's in it now - neither does anyone of us...)

Regarding devs hearing complaints... ANet is one of the most open minded and has the best communication wih their players... I see you never actually had a chance to see how it works so far and that you're just making stuff up out of blank... Head to guildwarsguru.com and check how many threads there is where players are discussing stuff with DEVS (!) and then go to the GW2 section and check what's the situation there as well... If that's not enoguh, try sending them an email, I did it when I had few questions which I would like to see in FAQ, I got reply the next day that they will add it in the next few days since they recieved a few emails regarding the exact same thing.  Now - what did you say about hearing players?

I believe everyone should make the decision to purchase a product based on research they have done themselves.  It is beneficial to read reviews and opinions of others, certainly, but you should ultimately make the decision for yourself based on the features of the product.  Deciding not to purchase something, because of how other people feel about it, doesn't make much sense to me.  If you like music from a band, and then discover that many other people like the same band, and defend it when other people talk poorly about it, does that make you stop liking the music?

In addition, I have read numerous posts on just this web site alone, which post false information, and make assumptions about what will or will not be in the game at launch.  This is just spin, and should be taken as such.  However, players who like the game will "defend" the game they are excited about, by pointing out the incorrect information/assumption.

Thats hilarious!

The CS in D3 actually sells items and gear, everyone agrees its a P2W model, and yet you would rather play that...lol..

I bet you were part of the crowd saying GW2s shop was P2W, werent you, talk about ironic.

Oh God!  Great sins I have commited.  What have I done?!  I step outside, and begin to cry uncontrollably.  I wander into the wilderness, ripping at my clothes.  I kneel, and begin to throw dirt on myself, convulsing in bitter anquish as I contemplate these great evils I have done.  Woe is me............woe is me.

It's uninformed accusations that makes people staunchly defend them. I guarantee you, ask a question about a legitmate feature of teh game.  Like communication in WvW (which I know they need to improve) or burst effects (really do we need the fourth of July).

But instead, the conversations tend to be about things that no one knows anything about  (cash shop) or that things that they've clearely stated (endgame content). First they want to get gamers out of the mindset of "endgame" comment. I was disgusted by that word two years ago.  What the heck is it?  Why is there specific content only for 1 level of the game. Why do we not have this amazing content throughout the game.  Why do I want to go to work again to gett gear to do endgame content.  What happened to playing RPGs for story, lore and victory.  Why does the requiprements for an RPG change because more people are playing.

Arenanet has said, that their level 80 (not endgame ) content will l not be primarily PVP.  WvW is an option for those kinds of players. At level 80, there will be unique dynamic events, dungeons and lands for those players.  WvW is a quarter of the content.  This has been stated by ARenannet.

Did I care who I was going to fight at he end of Final Fantasy vi. Utlima IV, Fallout 3.  Guild Wars 2 is for players that want to experience rpgs in a multiplayer world.  So at level 80, you get more great content. Not just that, there's so much content in the game you can go back to any level and do content you missed, and still be challenged, and still die, and still be defeated.  Take that in for a second. Imagine if you could do all the content in a game and not feel as if you're "working" or its labor intensive.

I remember playing rift, and thinking about 2 zones i passed on my road to 50, and wanting to do the content, but it was so mundane and hard work.  15 of this, 10 of this, no one else my level is doing it and i'm one hit killing everything.

Also imagine what that does for expansions. They can put in content at level 20 or 40, and everyone can do it soon. No more rolling 10 alts.  NO more encouraging family and friends to join and either power leveling them or leaving them to fend for themselves until they catch up.

Cmon ref, I expect more from you than that.

A Dollar General store is a great money maker in retail, I have one as a tennant. Nothing in that store is of great value yet it is cheap and silly conveince items that sell by the truck loads. Now the rent the guy pays me selling all that crap, goes into my boat, for trips down to the Islands every couple of weeks. That's pay to win baby! :)

Still, these threads are all nonsense. I'm already not buying the CE edition due to the cash shop crap with mythic keys and the lame attempt at loot bags. But the more I see these idiotic threads, the more it makes me want to support Anet and buy the CE. I welcome a good well thought out and reasonable argument about what GW2 can do to make it a better game, but sifting thru these lame threads makes that impossible.

From what I have read, you get bumped up in WvW, and the PvE has some sort of system for that too. I dont get it.

The pve sidekicking up system has gone the way of the dodo. Alot of people who say what do you get a level 80 that is so great. With the removal of the sidekicking up in pve its an easy question to answer...Freedom, Freedom to go into any zone you want whenever you want to. With the sidekicking down system none of that content is trivial either. I don't know if i'd call leveling a grind but being max level certainly has a more meaningful advantage then it did 2 weeks ago for pve.

What I don't get is if the game is as optimised against making cash shop purchases as people say then why are ANet going to the trouble and expense of putting the cash shop in?

I know a guy who owns several dollar generals and its the same thing, it has a bunch of trinkets in it. Nothing overly great, but all inexpensive and doesnt make you look at your wallet when you spend money on it.  Those are the best cash shops.  You get the imagination of getting something, but, when i do the math, you don't save a ton of time for 3 bucks.  12 minutes for 3 dollars here, 20 minutes for 3 dollars theres.

I'm not buying the CE simply because I'd rather them give me a credit towards the cash shop than things I don't know if i need yet.

Thats hilarious!

The CS in D3 actually sells items and gear, everyone agrees its a P2W model, and yet you would rather play that...lol..

I bet you were part of the crowd saying GW2s shop was P2W, werent you, talk about ironic.

Not to mention that Blizzard designed the D3 cash shop so they make money coming and going on these micro-transactions. As of a Feb 23rd update, they took as much as 83% of the profit depending on what the item sold for.

Its not possible to prove that F2P or P2P games are better or worse. Its all opinion and subjective. Some prefer F2P games even if some of them are P2W or sell advantages. Others have valid reasons to like and prefer P2P games. Some that really like P2P games would never even try or consider playing a F2P title. Others that like F2P refuse to pay a monthly fee and would never play a P2P game.

For some the business model is important and makes a huge difference when they decide if they want to play a game or not. Others play both F2P and P2P games and think its less important...

And if a game is worth a sub or not is something every individual player must decide. Then the company will have to decide if they think profit is good enough...

P2W games are always worse than P2P games.  Developers have to build their game mechanics to be monetized.  If the most enjoyable way to implement something is X, but the best way to monetize it is Y, then it will have to be made Y.   They don't have a choice, since the business model dictates design.

IF that is true, I am lol at the people thinking they are going to get rich playing D3. If you want to play it for fun, you should do so. But don't expect to make a living out of it.
