Got this same info from twitter, it's pretty awesome of gog.com to do this since I never played the original Fallout(loved fallout 3 though). And FREE? Can't go wrong. |

Its better to be quiet and perceived as stupid, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. |

Originally posted by Vidir I'd argue there isn't a better time than now to (re)play it if you can stomach the graphics which even back in the day weren't that great. You look at all the choices in it and kinda think "when did the modern RPGs go astray?". Nature without Technology is little more than animals running about. |

Originally posted by Methos12 Or look at Planescape:Torment. How you could switch back and forth between mage, thief and fighter and there was a reason for that based on the fundamental premise of the backstory and relates to the entire story as the game unfolds and even a reason why you can't be a cleric. Same thing for the way death is treated. Almost every single mechanic and interaction with your NPC and even why you acquire these particular NPCs is all heavily rooted in the story and it makes sense no matter how you play the game. And you can play the game as any of the 9 D&D alignments and see different stuff and have it make sense and get different tidbits from them.
Its funny. In Torment Wisdom is the most important stat even though you can't be a cleric. People intnetionally ramp up Inttelligence, Wisdom and charisma even on characters that don't use these for fighting just because of all the choices and extra information. |
