Originally posted by GrayGhost79 Uh no. With 4 days left until pre-purchase and they make this last minute announcement to try and stop EU players getting the cheaper version. They thought they were being clever and then realise they are wrong so they start 'looking into the issue'. That doesnt exactly inspire any consumer confidence. How do we know that their fix will actually be acceptable? We dont. So the issue isnt over until they announce the fix that they have come up with. |

I loathe the concept of regional locking, whether it's for a game that you purchase or any other content that's denied to some regions but not to others. How many times have I followed a link to some content or another and been told "This is not available in your region". Makes me want to setup a US proxy just to circumvent it. So yeah, region locking sucks ass. Chances are it will never affect me directly but I still hope they reconsider it. |

To our Euro allies I would say: "Sorry for the inconvenience this puts you in... " ...but I'm sure they'll get a work-around put in place soon enough. Anet always finds a way to fix stuff like this even if they aren't the fastest at getting around to it.
To everyone else: Tough Shit. Stop buying Taiwan serials for a 1/10th of the price the game is actually worth and then reselling those accounts through RMT sites. We all know there's a bunch of you who do this and you can complain on the forums all you want... but you're not entitled to make money off Anet's hard work. Just GTFO and stop making excuses. |

Not a huge fan of region locking but I can sort of understand why it's in place. Publisher, retail partners, etc. What I think ANet should do as far as region locking goes, is to require the game to be activated from the region where it was purchased, and then allow it to be played from anywhere in the world. So if you live in France, you have to purchase and activate the game in France. Once you do that, the region lock is lifted and you can play from anywhere in the world. There is no subscription fee so there really is no point in maintaining the region lock after the game is activated.

I'm really hyped for Guildwars 2, but ArenaNet's business decisions are starting to piss me off. The funny part ist, the best prevention for europeans to buy the US version is, that they will probably only accept credit cards. Many europeans don't have one and those who do, are reluctant to use them for online shopping. And the sad part is, that they will probably only accept credit cards for prepurchase in europe, too... |

Originally posted by Deldor This seems more like a publisher decision than developer's because Publisher handle everything after the developer makes the game. But honestly ppl like you are making a mountain out of molehills, the only people that are affected are ppl that travel a lot which only happens to be a fraction of the players. |

Originally posted by Adalwulff They announced the price, everyone told them that the conversion was way off, especially for the CE, and then there is region locking announced, It doesnt take a genius to realise why they did it. There is no market difference, every other game I have purchased here i the UK has been equivalent to the US cost after including VAT. GW2 is not. There is no reasonable justification for the extra cost either which is why they decided to region lock rather than review the prices that they set. |

In terms of world economies, I consider NA and EU to be in the same region. I don't see a reason for ArenaNet to isolate the two. |

My concern has been answered. Players in the Philippines who pre-purchase will automatically connect to NA data center. HTC One |
