I cancelled my preordered copy from amazon (Germany) after I received a email that they have a prepurchase version available with the 3 days headstart, the access to all beta weekends and the in game item for the same price (49€). So instead of cancelling my old preorder and get the digital deluxe from ANet for 79€ at the 10th july, I just cancelled it already and ordered the prepurchase. I got a email yesterday that it will be delivered this saturday the 7th april already and I can't wait to have it. :) As about the release, it should be between the mid to end of june for sure. All the retailers so far have June as release date and I doubt they came up with it all together but rather got a confirmation from Anet that June will be the month of release. As about the Asura and Sylvari, they are definately done cause there were already footages and videos of gameplay with them from the betas. What they are still working on is the housing part of the game that will come with an update after the release, together with other contents. |

I'm pretty sure they're done or nearly done with the Asura and Sylvari.. however awhile back they did resign the Sylveria to give them a better look so it's possible that they were just fleshing out the character models (which now seems to be done) so yeah.. I'm more worried about higher level content to be honest... we'll see though :) Hopefully a release date will come next week or the day before pre-purchase. I doubt it will but... I think it would be smart on ArenaNet's part to announce a release date so that people feel more comfortable pre-purchasing. (I will regardless :p) |

I'll pre-purchase with out a release date and as long as it launches by early August, I'll be ok with the lag time. I'm really hoping they will announce a release date by April 10th, since I'm pulling for a June launch and one would expect if that were the case, April would be the time to make that announcement. Even as a big fan of the game, if they started pre-purchaes April 10th with an internal release goal of Q4 2012, I'd be more than a little ticked off.

I don't think we'll get a release date for a couple of months, myself. I'm pre-purchasing two digital copies of the game, one for me and one for my significant other. We've waited long enough to give ArenaNet our money. LOL President of The Marvelously Meowhead Fan Club |

No release date, probably just more hype. Just like the year before, and the year before that. One would expect the game is coming out this year since they said 2012 with a definite year for once. But hey, I'm purchasing a game with no release date and a cash shop for 3 days early access. |

The way I see, Anet is giving the people who pre-purchase guaranteed access to all of the betas. As well as the game 3 days early when it comes out. And we know for a fact we'll be playing it at the end of this month. So you know when your going to be playing the game when you put the money down. So I would say it's worth the 60 dollar purchase. I would still love a release date very soon though. I hope they release one here soon. |

Originally posted by natuxatu in regard to sylvari and asura, i reckon they know these will be popular and wanted to leave something for the release. given the amount of video footage they've let go viral with all the spoilers and whatnot, i guess they hoped to keep a little mystery. which was nice. |

I doubt it. But I also dont think it will be too incredibly long after, that we do indeed find out.
I seriously doubt they're going to have people pre pay and then wait months and months for a release date. I could be wrong, as it happened once back in 1996 but we'll see. |

Why pay in full for a game when you don't have a release date? It's not like they are going to run out of digital copies - you're just encouraging this type of behaviour from future developers. You wont get a refund if the game is delayed - you have no basis for a refund, they didn't promise anything within any timescale.

Originally posted by Vortigon I'm pretty sure that you just said the same thing in different words as your first post in this thread. Go back and read some posts. When you pre-purchase, you are getting 3 day head start, and guaranteed access to all the betas, and you know for a fact you'll be playing in the beta near the end of this month, as well as next month. And this is a great practice to play, not only does it get the fans access to the beta, but it also lets fans know that the release is around the corner, and it's good for the developer to get some extra cash for the home stretch of their game. So don't go comparing Anet to Capcom or Bioware. At least just yet... |

You can cancel pre-order but not pre-purcarse cause you paid already. |

I'm kind of torn. On one hand, I have been burned before. I have questions yet about the cash shop. (Mystic Keys specifically.) Pre Purchase, without a realease date is kinda pushing my goodwill meter.
On the other hand, I do plan on buying the regular 60.00 version as a birthday gift to myself, and don't really have any other games coming out soon that I am all that interested in. I did enjoy Guildwars, late, but it wasn't the greatest game ever or anything. I am really intrigued by the W v W v W. If that is good, it looks like as good as gaming can be to me. If its not good ... well ... lets just hope its good. I really want to stand triumphant up high on that main castle, with the smoldering corpses of my enemies littering the battleground. I can almost feel the primal scream rising up in my throat now just thinking about it.
I like the things that they are saying, I'm not sure if I can believe them though. If it is simply about trust, they really haven't done anything to earn that yet. I guess, I'm still going to sit on the fence a bit longer. If I miss a couple of beta days or a few early access days, well so be it I guess. I imagine I will still end up buying this game, but I really need a few more questions answered first. I can wait, not in that big of a rush to be burned again. ( Note to self-Don't say anything bad about Drizzt.) An acerbic sense of humor is NOT allowed here. |
