Originally posted by alkrmr That would be cool indeed. So far, though, you will see enemy's guild tags. So there will be some of that happening (probably a bit more than many people think). It will be tied more towards guilds, rather than individual players, but the observant player will be able to spot the same people if they look. It would be awesome to have a system like this, though. Maybe tied to player rank? Would create additional insentives to PvP, without making you more powerful. |

Well there isnt any real diffrence between "red invader" and "server name" since the servers in WvWvW are pretty much fixed like the old battlegroups from WoW, and a quick look at the score screen will tell you which servers you are figthing on. If any thing they should change the current place holder to "char_name of server_name" so people with major ego issues could get their statifsfaction, but honestly if GW will sell any where close to what ever any AAA mmo today sells initially the chances of you meeting the same people over and over are rather slim, especially if they will shuffle people. I do feel its a bit odd that they will have cross realm rankings but wont show names in WvWvW but also it might be a performance issue, rendering text does takes its toll and if they just transform text to textures with transparency maps that can improve some performance. BTW am i the only one that's playing MMO's with name tags off? i hate them they are annoying as frak and just mess up the screen... Well see how easy it will be to deferntiate between a friend and a foe in WvWvW but i really hope i can turn off the name tags, in rift, WoW, and ToR thats no problem since the races and classes are sufficiently diffrent graphicaly to serve as an IFF...

I'd be fine with options on how the invaders are designated, as long as they stick with no character names or other unique identifiers for invaders. Want to know more about GW2 and why there is so much buzz? Start here: Guild Wars 2 Mass Info for the Uninitiated |

as i recall in daoc, when you killed a player from the other realm, while you couldnt see their names..it did make a zone wide message that "Rungard has been killed by (insert invisible cowardly hibernian ranger scumbag name here)" That was always enough to gain notariety...one way or the other.. its a nice touch.
I have to be honest with you. We have completely blown up the design of EverQuest Next. For the last year and a half we have been working on something we are not ready to show. Why did we blow up the design? The design was evolutionary. It was EverQuest III. It was something that was slightly better than what had come before it. It was slightly better. What we are building is something that we will be very proud to call EverQuest. It will be the largest sandbox-style MMO ever designed.--Smed |

maybe the progression could be measured by time spent in WvWvW, players killed, supply gathered, structures built/repaired/destroyed, etc. |

If it doesn't show names, at least we won't have lots of angry /whisper messages from the other side. I played lots of random arena in GW1, lots of douches messaging kind of got annoying. On the other hand, it's nice to know you got x player back or you can tell who's the guy who was easy to kill and keep targeting him first. I'd prefer having character names. |

Considering the set-up, it makes perfect sense. So I don't mind it. For every minute you are angry , you lose 60 seconds of happiness."-Emerson If you can't argue the point don't say anything at all. |
