I know gazzlion entertainment are doing one, but in thiers, you have to choose an already established marvel character. To me that takes away what makes the MMO special, instead its an online Marvel Action game. I want something akin to a cross between City of Heroes (customization), Champions online (power sets) and DC Universe Online (Play in same universe as known characters with action combat). Couldnt NSOFT do this instead of COH 2? Heres hoping! |

Unfortunately elves, fairies and dwarves are better for sales than super heroes. "How should I know if it works? That's what beta testers are for. I only coded it." |

Whoever owns the rights to Marvel in videogames would have to do it. Considering who publishes most of the Marvel based videogames, you would have to ask Activision or Capcom to make a Marvel online game. |

In answer to the question - most likely never. But first define proper because what is proper to me may not be proper to you, and I doubt either of us would agree with whomever develops it on what proper is because the first part of their definition will be how profitable it would be. Just Saying. Currently bored with MMO's. |

The latest Game Informer magazine has an article with a bunch of the guys from Marvel. Bendis is in the group so they ask him about the MMO (he's the lead writer for it). Now, get this: He says he doesn't play DCUO because creating your own character is a turn-off. He litterally says "no one wants to create their own superhero. Everyone wants to be Spider-man and Wolverine." Let that sink in for a minute.
To answer the OP's question: Never. Not while an idiot like Bendis is on the team. I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil |

since there are no Marvel mmos out there i made my Jubilee clone in DCUO and loving it. I would love to make my own character in Gazzillion's Marvel mmo and join the real Marvel heroes in game, but hey, i will get to play with my favourite Marvel heroe so no biggie. :) cant wait for Gazillion to shed some light on the game |

Super Hero games really dont work as an MMO as their based soley on pre existing characters and storylines. MMO's on the otherhand are about creating your own character/story. While COH was ok, it worked because it was its own thing. A marvel or DC or whatever game just comes off as a cheezy action kiddie game because its impossible to do much more with it. |

There will never be another successful comic MMO. Corporate giants (such as EA and Lucas) will never allow any developer to create anything other than a theme park. Unless some smaller company succeeds in creating a successful non Theme Park MMO (let them do the damage), major corps will never buy it out (as they always do) and milk it's fan base dry. So basically...NEVER! |

And it would probably have you download games just like you download music from itunes store... And its controller might be compatible with all the other Apple gadgets. And all the games on said Apple console would probably require you to log into a server online in order to play in single player mode (more ick!)
*hisses* Don't even mention Disney making a videogame! They are only good at making pirate movies and videogame collaberations with Square Enix! That's it! |
