I do reserch, and have a good understanding of what I like, I know myself very well.

I find it extremely hard to believe that you have never been dissappointed in a game, even after having done "research".

Quite an arrogant statement.

Why is that arrogant?  I would hope everyone researches games before they play them, and have  good understanding of what they are looking for in a game.  That's the difference between a smart peson and someone who constantly throws their money away.

Also, where did he say that he was never disappointed in a game?  All he stated was that doing his due diligence in researching the game would guarantee he didn't completely hate it after a month.

then theres the 3 chars defaulth , buy more NOW for 9,99.  and reserve a name for 9,99  per char..

FUNCOM SCAMS AGAIN and people are falling for it again!

Scamcom powered by EA .. its in the Name,...

I agree the EU vs US comparison. For US the lifetime is 190~€'s and EU the lifetime is 250€'s. That's a sickening difference and no "tax" or "cost" can explain it.

On the subject for extra character slots and name reservations.. Well do your research before ranting. There's no sensible reason a player would need more than 3 character slots.

Uhm, okay. I'lle elaborate.

For all the things you can look up on the net, the best way to know for sure if you like the game is to actually play the game. Text, pics and movies will only bring you so far.

That said, I was assuming we were discussing a situation where you would order a lifetime sub for a game that simply doesnt have a trial. Which holds true for like.....99% of the new MMOs. There are so many factors involved, from the figurative levels 1 to a 100, that one is never REALLY sure about what a game feels like, plays like, etc. That is, untill you have actually played it.

Now, in that case, it is arrogant to state that one knows himself so well that he can order a lifetime sub. Why? Because it also implies that people that DO get dissapointed after ordering the lifetime do NOT know themselves very well.

And holy crap, there's a thing called "reading between the lines".

I wanted to type something really smart as a reply to this subject, but the Scarlet Blade ad got me distracted and I forgot what I wanted to type.

You have 525 skills to unlock at launch. That's a lot of "levelling" ahead and since you can always visit the "new player" areas again there's nothing you can't do with "older" toon. Extra characters don't add any value to TSW unless it's really your thing to play different toon every day :E

Having 1 toon per faction is all you could ever need.

So, delete one of the characters you had. The only difference between characters is going to be the Secret Society that they belong to. You get 3 characters, there are 3 secret societies.

If the servers are still up then... what a Joke :D Not my words, the idea! I mean, really?

Every game that offered a lifetime sub and went F2P offered the lifetime sub holders decent perks for being a lifetime holder.

Lifetime subs are all well and good if you want to beta test for the first few months then quit (SWTOR anyone?). The issue I have is for those of us that wait until things get fleshed out and the majority of mechanics, bugs, and exploits are fixed. We then pay for the base game, and further down the road if we're still playing we pay for expansions, toss in the monthly sub, and it adds up. Then one day it's all free and the welfare crowd comes in and lives off the money the rest of us invested. Sure, F2P games can make money off the cash shops, but not everyone that plays them is going to buy anything from those either. Now when the companies start offering kickbacks of some sort for those of us that kept them running long enough to support the froobs, my opinion might change slightly.

Well for me the lifetime works like a charm. It's a P2P game with B2P option. I don't expect the game to be well polished and working like WoW when it comes out. But I believe in the developer and their product. I can play the game intensively at launch, then take few weeks off and check out the next patch and play for few months again.

It will not be cheaper than paying monthly every time I want to check the game out, but since I don't need to think about it (I've already paid it) it's much easier to launch up the client and give it a spin.

Considering this game has nearly endless grind there's always something to do in it.

If you were to be a sensible consumer, then I wouldn't suggest paying for lifetime at the moment. Buying the lifetime now it's more like a sign of support to Funcom. You can do the math and try to guess how the game will work out in the future. Or you can _blindly_ throw in the 200$/250€ for Funcom and give them a nice pat on the back to keep going.

Nobody knows how the game will fare in the future, it's a leap of faith :>

Lifetime subscriptions are a nice gesture to your testers, but I believe it's not a smart offer business-wise. Believers will buy it anyway and keep subscribed. Anyway if you have faith in Funcom, it's a good deal. If you have not, it's a lot of money. AT this moment I haven't seen enough of TSW to say the game is any good.

(Lotro had lifetime too. The players who took at the start, they got their money out of it. Then Turbine offered it again after a few years. One month after the lifetime subscription offer ended, they announced free to play. )

I have never been dissapointed in a game that I have researched and then bought, that is true.

Its not arrogant to know ones self. In other words I know what I like.

But I am sorry if some cannot tell what they like.

Bad players often underestimate the power of doing research before logging in.

I only spoak of myself and of no one else, one should not assume that there is something between the lines.

What you assume is not what I said, or even ment, or was even a passing thought to me.

Unless you are in beta you have no idea......TSW is all theory for alot of us and who knows if any of it will even work??...... I like the premise of the game also but there is no way I hand them the money they are asking with so little real info on the game......

This is exactly my thought as well.

In retrospect the lifetime sub for lotro is very worth it.

Instead of buying everything a la carte and possibly being charged more over the course of time, one just gets' the basic game with all the updates.

One might still have to buy expansion packs but all the regular updates come with that lifetime sub.

F2p requires you to buy each and every quest pack.

As long as one feels that they will be interested in playing over the course of years it shouldn't be a problem.
