Originally posted by Hatewall Georage Lucas doesn't really bother with much besides the movies. He delegates almost all the secondary and tertiary IP usages to other people. He has never given a rat's ass about any SW stuff that is outside the movies and has said so publically. As far as he is concerned its about money and making sure they just don't get too crazy and start seeing Buck Roger's and his wookie jamboree. Which is clearly non-canon as Buck Rogers is on earth in the 25th century which is clearly neither long ago nor in a galaxy far far away.
Many people say Empire Strikes Back is the best movie. Its no coincidence that the screenplay was done by a professional and they had a different director (Lucas still did the overall plot). Sometimes Lucas' delgations pay off, some times they don't. In general I think Lucas is a someone who writes good plots, has terrible charactierization, and writes awful dialog. When he writes the plot and lets other people do the other stuff you get some great shit.
As for the other stuff its complete hit or miss and has little to do with Lucas himself. There has been great stuff (Jedi academy, Tie fighter) and bad stuff. As for SWG and SWTOR both of those are more about the MMORPG industry and the fact that they were done by SOE and EA after other previous successes. It just soulless big money chasing after sure things. Which is fine but is bound to stifle creativity. |

Maybe Lucas Arts and EA/Bioware are having a contest to see who can butcher the Star Wars IP better... |

My love for Star Wars has taken many hits... this is ... just... wow... I think at some point George Lucas actually started to hate Star Wars and might be trying to destroy completely now...

Seems perfectly inline with other star wars products. Can't compare it to the original trilogy of course, but how about the Christmas Special? Or Episode's 1 through 3? Or SWTOR? Star Wars has been nothing but crap since Return of the Jedi. Are you a Pavlovian Fish Biscuit Addict? Get Help Now! |

Star Wars is a shell of it's former self. I was around when Star Wars was just Star Wars. When Episode IV was really Episode I and the only thing "A New Hope" meant was that this time, mom and dad could drive you to the theater in time to get tickets before it sold out again. I never bought into the change from ESB to RoTJ where Vader went from killing Luke's Dad, to being Luke's dad. Sorry, but Kenobi's "Many of the truthes we cling to speech" didn't wash with me when I was a kid and it doesn't now. Lucas changed his story in mid stride. And for me, the change has never brought the story back to what it should have been.
If the conversation turned "Tit-for-Tat", and I've stopped posting, Consider it your win. |

The lyrics are so cheesy too, its actually pretty funny. Theres one where a Twi'lek sings that she "ain't no holograph girl" to Gwen Stefani. I mean, I know it is demeaning a beloved part of my childhood, but I couldnt stop myself from laughing at how corny it is. |

Props for the Hologram Girl one, very clever. As usual the Empire has all the best moves. Wai so srs people? Should be evident now that your standard Star Wars fan cares more about the IP than Lucas has for years. Once you accept that the nerdrage will evaporate.
