Counted 78 during weekday at 9pm est in the lower lvl ranges. Yeah that's not an IMPRESSIVE number but it speaks volumes more than your claim of 3 people online.

As I said, I'm hoping it's a case of people having transferred to Telon server to consolidate the player base, I was hoping someone could confiorm this (and if so, is it still possible to transfer?). I know they offered free transfers some time ago. 

Perhaps there's a command other than '/who all' that I don't know about, but there were exactly three people online when I was on. This wasn't during peak time, it was between 12-1am, so it's likely that it's just a reflection of off peak hours.

However, 3 people online for an entire server (I know it wasn't just my continent either as one was on Isle of Dawn, one was in New Targanor, and I was in Khal looking for the herald) at any time of day is incredibly low. Especially considering some of the MUDs I play usually have between 200-300 players online at *any* time.

The same EQ and EQ2 recieved.

SOE fails at F2P. A 2 hour potion that cost 45 dollars? OMFG... These guys are seriously worse than any asian f2p shop.

Can't use mercs unless you subscribe...

SOE can't even save its flagship MMOs. Its not gonna see the light for VG.

The F2P move is just to make more money before they inevitably pull the plug. They certainly aren't looking for loyal fans anymore.

Not sure why they would hire more devs to make it better just to pull the plug. I can see your point though. I hope it doesn't happen.

I thinking the biggest mistake is not doing a huge overhaul of the game before going f2p. While there is a lot to like about this game, this is their last shot to built their playerbase back up. Most games switching to a f2p model waiting for a big update or expansion to do the switch.

I guess SOE doesn't want to pit any more money into it until they start to profit from it.

Agreed, it would be nice to have everyone be able to start on a even playing field like Eq/eq2, especially with regards to the economy.

Personally, I think this is "too little, too late" for vanguard.  They might get a little burst of a few tourists who will stay for 2-3 weeks.  This will more than likely happen for 3-6 months and then it's back to being on life support.  At this point they're just looking to sponge what little money they can from their investment imo.
