Hands down, Earthrise.  Waited for that game for years...when it launched, was a blast...but the dev team just was novice...mistake, mistake, mistake.  They just couldn't get it right.

Interesting, are you saying there is no 'level' progression in GW2? 

I was teasing. GW2 is a solid and good game with progression IF you do PvE. If you go strictly PvP, you can get all the good stuff right away, as you are autoleveled to 80 and your skills are autotuned to that of a level 80. Gear equivalent as well. Anyways, if you want more details, the GW2 forum is full of it, and organized much better. Now, no more derailing this interesting thread, I was just putting in a little bit of laughter (yeah, i know, i have dry humor :-P).

The end games the same as every other theme park MMO.

Guild Wars 1 was the worst MMO I have ever played. Bought the game, installed, played 1 hour before uninstalling and never going back.

Truly fucking awful game. Even worse than Vanguard at launch which is my 2nd most disappointing game.

DCU. Expected alot from this game as I have been reading comic books since I was a kid and DC is the second best comic publisher. However the game was such a dissapointment... it was called DC Universe yet it was so small in scope that it should have been called DC ThemePark.

Lotro. Followed it from early development, subbed for years as turbine just kept breaking it more and more, and then watched it turn into a p2w mess. Not only that, but they've basically eye-raped the lore.

AoC first and foremost. SWToR runs  a close second.

Title of thread and the question asked is "What MMO was the biggest disappointment for you?" GW1 is not an MMO.

Warhammer Online. was expecting EVE in Old World. got crippled WoW.

i would have to go with 1) Warhammer, 2) SWTOR.

Warhammer was so fun and promising for the first 20 level or so. it was everything a open world pvper would want. it was like WoW on steroids with better graphics, collision detection,public quests,  etc, etc. somehow, after level 20 it just tanked big time. cc was just rediculous. class imbalance was atrocious, zones were poorly designed and felt funneled, quests got boring. the worst part about War is just how fast it all fell apart after level 20. so sad because it was so fun at lower levels.

SWTOR. while i wasnt' expecting all that much from it i was still very shocked just how fast i got bored of it. with all the hype and money this game got i'm still incredulous as to how little soul this game has. nothing but cut and paste from other games, and not even a good cut and paste.

2) LOTRO, but only everything after Shadows of Angmar.  LOTRO was a lot of fun before the expansions and complete overhaul

Champions Online.

I used to play the PnP game, and I'd hoped that the MMO would allow you to build your powers in a similar fashion.  It was Cryptics first game, so all we knew is that some of these guys were from CoH, Diablo, etc.  Surely they could make something pretty cool, no?  CoX 2.0 at least?
