They got their in the end, Mittani sacked from CSM6 chairmanship, sacked from CSM7 altogether and a 30 day ban, fair enough, I hope he comes back and blows lots of shit up, games need bastards and villains.
A line into RL was crossed here and action needed to be taken. I would have respected the man more if he had resigned as promised, instead we saw him decline the CSM7 chairmanship as it conflicted with his GS role, he should have HTFU and taken the hit like a man.
I played EvE for maybe 6 months tops, never had an issue with Goons, I don't care about the metagame above enjoyment of reading the odd good story.

0.0 might be all about metagame, that still does not stand for whole EVE though. |

Originally posted by jpnz Yes, then we will show how much Sony really knows about the game -company they are pertnering up with. We will see if Sony does to EVE online (and CCP) as what LucasArts did to SWG (and SOE)... I'm betting that Sony do not know why this game is one of the few games that actually have been gaining subscription for the last decade whereas other games merele the release month. I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention. |

Originally posted by Liddokun EVE is the ultimate form of 'free' actually. It has almost no rules (killing new players / cheating excluded) and lets the players do what they want. I'd say it is probably closer to 'nature' since there are no 'safety net'. It attracts certain type of MMO players, whether it attracts you personally is another issue. :) Wonder why there seems to be more haters on the internet? Originally posted by SlaverHound Except you lose everything that you had at the time of death. Only thing you retain are skill points (if your clone is up to date) and in-game gold. Unless there is an MMO that has perma-death system that I don't know about, this is probably the closest. Wonder why there seems to be more haters on the internet? Originally posted by AtmaDarkwolf I'm pretty certain you have no clue what you are talking about. filmoret: One thing I have never figured out is why the game devs hardly ever fix simple problems that arise. It is like they don't care about the pvp community. Nitth: What makes you so sure its a simple fix? filmoret: Because most of them are. Sometimes its just changing a number in a code string other times its creating a few variables. However none of them should take over a few hours of coding. |

The factually inaccurate reporting by 'gaming' media is funny though. Never thought I'd say 'I prefer IGN now'. What is happening to me? :( Wonder why there seems to be more haters on the internet? Read this by an actual marketing guy to find out why. |

What's happened to you, besides getting old, perhaps you have overcome this internet shit and realised that you have a mind of your own instead of just letting some stupid (again) wannabe journalist feed you with their shitty rethorics.

As the media-frenzy-factually-inaccurate-storm passes we are left with something that was not expected. A public apology by the 'journalist' that first mentioned the 'cyber bullying' word and created this mess. http://soundcloud.com/aryndelvyst/the-mittani-vs-brendan-drain
Factually wrong statements were The Mittani mentioned the 'sucidal player's real life name'. - FALSE The Mittani's personal blog is http://www.kugutsumen.com/ - FALSE What The Mittani did was 'cyber bullying' - FALSE
When the person who 'broke' the story comes out and does a 180 turn TEN SECONDS into the interview, you know something's not as it seemed initially. Last I checked, Massively has an office in UK which has some draconian libel laws... >.> Wonder why there seems to be more haters on the internet? Ask yourself this question, would you feel the same if you caught the news tommorow and this guy ended up deceased? This ain't a game anymore when real life is dragged into it sorry, and if you can sit there and try to justify trying to get a troubled guy to off himself for kicks, then you don't need to have your a$$ on the internet, in fact, I think you need to seek professional help in all seriousness. As for the Goon Squad and their leader, if they think this is acceptable and responsible "human" behavior, then maybe they need to join you! And this is not me buying into the mass craze going on around this, however, it is me simply saying that if you agree that trying to get someone to kill themselves is normal behavior, then you need to be in a mental institution. As for the Mittani's apology, I believe he realized he might end up with a ban to appease the angry mob and decided to change course to save face. Truth is, alot "NOT ALL" pvp guilds usally are filled with people that do not think for themselves, nor do they think like normal people, they get off on bullying, trolling, and at times even taking it a step to far. You people out there supporting this kinda behavior need to learn to use some common sense and realize when its no longer a game.. |
