In a new blog post on the Star Wars: The Old Republic site, Senior Game Designer William Wallace lays out precise details on the Legacy System that is set to hit SWTOR in April. The Legacy System allows characters to create a 'family tree' and access skills that are normally unavailable to certain classes. The Legacy System begins with a player's first character and all characters built on any given server are considered part of that original legacy. Wallace goes on to discuss Class Unlocks, Companion Unlocks, Species Unlocks, Ship Unlocks and other unlocks that will become available as players progress through the system. I've read the blog and it's details - in the end, it's really not much at all. Hype >> Reality

Legacy system is cool but ends when you actually start to level any alt past your main. Maybe if they made leveling alt's less boring, tedious and engaging then this would be awesome. Right now, it's not. |

Originally posted by QSatu So did I, until I actually did it, or tried to. Then I found all those voiced over side quests and space battles weren't very fun the second time around. If I could have just done the class quests ONLY on all alts past my level 50, I wouldn't have minded. Like giving my alts a veteran bonus or something so as not to plod through the useless filler. I could have really enjoyed my other classes then, but nope, gotta trudge through it all with no variation on which planet at which level. For those who say well you can PVP or space mission or FP for variation...yeah, tried that. It's even slower and more tedious a task then just flat out questing. |

Exactly, bigsmiff. . . I have a really hard time understanding why so many people are such hating, whiney bitches about TOR. I really suspect that most people who have such an axe to grind with TOR are really just played out of MMO's in general and because they can't get it up for latest MMO on the market they just try and deliberately destroy as many peoples' peace of mind and happiness as possible on their way out. . . which is entirely BETA DOUCHEBAGGERY. I have played MMOs since Everquest beta (not bragging, just sayin') and, God damn, of course MMOs are getting tired no matter what the IP or how the graphics look or which fantasy settng. . . BUT a game like TOR still only comes around once every 3-5 years if you are lucky so if you have really convinced yourself that TOR is the shittiest game on the market. . . well, just GTFO. Go cradle your delusion someplace where someone may give a fuck about your crying about it. |

The legacy system is a great idea implimented in one of the worst ways imaginable for a RPG let alone an MMORPG. Bad is bad, period. People that have to either like something 100% of the time or hate it 100% of the time are whats wrong with the genre, its because of people like that, that the genre of MMOs have become the watered down cookie cutter bland games they have become.
P.S. 5. if you cant handle opposing opinions you should be on a public forum so your precious mind isnt damaged by the knowledge that people, can be different. “I hope we shall crush...in its birth the aristocracy of our moneyed corporations, which dare already to challenge our government to a trial of strength and bid defiance to the laws of our country." ~Thomes Jefferson |

To elaborate on WHY ITS BAD. This is an MMORPG with multiple RACES. RACES... The legacy system is created to make you use it to unlock powers for other classes you are playing. But in a ROLEPLAYING game with RACES, 1 character I play my not be of the same RACE. Oh but thats ok, they are not related then, they are...allies, even though...its a FAMILY tree. Derp. Better yet, you are going to unlock...oh, force choke...for your non-force using bountry hunter! WTF...derp. but its ok, you can only do it once every ** minutes. oh, so my non-force using character can only use the force once every ** minutes, well, then that deal breaker is just plain OK I guess...derp. Hey but you can also unlock a mailbox for your ship...and it will only cost you 1000000000000000 credits! well, thank God for that! But wait, you can also unlock classes and races for classes you want to play...really? How many months after release and already having my alts leveled is that going to be made available?!? Did the makers of this game ever even HEAR of an MMO or RPG before making this game? Legacy is a great idea implimented in the worst possible way I could imagine...much like the idea that I have to group to get social points to unlock clothing to roleplay in around a town. im surprised they are not awarding us PvP gear for standing in town doing emotes... “I hope we shall crush...in its birth the aristocracy of our moneyed corporations, which dare already to challenge our government to a trial of strength and bid defiance to the laws of our country." ~Thomes Jefferson |

100% Agree Golbat, seriously starting to absolutely hate this forum because of so many people going OUT OF THERE WAY to find every and all post concerning SWTOR and hate like its going out of style, trying to make anyone who actually likes the game feel like a fool. Its true that we all have preferences, but just blanket "THIS GAME SUCKZ BECAUSE I SAY SO" posts are getting so incredibly tiring especially because I like SWTOR and think it has potential. Is it perfect, no way, but I think it could get better eventually, just like LOTRO, just like WoW in its hayday, just like so many other MMo's that I have played and enjoyed at one time or another. |

Originally posted by mboudway In order for that potential to be realized, the negative posts need to be considered long before the positive ones. Don't get all upset because of negative opinions about the game. Work with them not against them. If it's just a post that says I hate this game and everyone who likes it, than ok. But most of the posts I've read actually give factual evidence for any frustration with the game. I want the game to blow me away, but if they continue to act like nothing is wrong, that just won't happen. We've already seen games do that and just shut down or become 1 server wonders. Like WAR, Champions Online, and so forth. Lots of potential in those games but they never once addressed their real issues and now we watch them fade away as more games release that do it better. |

Its true that we all have preferences, but just blanket "THIS GAME ROCKZ BECAUSE I SAY SO" posts are getting so incredibly tiring especially because I hate SWTOR and still think it has potential.
