Mages can choose from three very powerful specs, but there is no question which wow leveling spec is going to get you from 1-85 the fastest and with the least downtime, Frost Fire and Arcane are excellent trees once you hit 85 and enter dungeons to gear up for raiding, but nothing beats a frost mage for sheer survivability as you level to 85 Here is the WoW Leveling Spec that will get you to 85 the quickest. Just open this page and then while logged into World of Warcraft press the N key to open your talents. You may need to visit a trainer to “unlearn” your talents if you have already started and need to reset them. You can find a trainer by right clicking on a guard. If you prefer to have an addon that walks you through the leveling and talent point process then I suggest this WoW Addon, which I use personally and has taken me from 1-85 in only 3 days played. If you are looking for a great private WoW community then Warcraft Conquest is an excellent choice. If you prefer to stop researching and start playing then the Edge addon will setup everything that I am going to explain below for you. It really depends if you want to do it all yourself or just have an addon do the work for you. Here is the spec that I recommend.
The rotation is not truly a rotation, but a priority list and goes like this: (Remember you will not have all of these spells as you start out)

gotta wonder why they even bother with three tree options for classes. they may as well just give you one, with no skill points and then every month or so switch so this month you're doing frost and next month fire. arcane? pfft. no one likes purple balls. |

What you need to do is just hurry up and click through those talent boxes. Just thow points anywhere...it's a mage so it's all win. Then what you do is take and attach a Staples Easy Button to a USB cable and keybind it to "1" Ready to go "That was ea", "That wa", "Tha", That", "That was Easy", "Tha", "Tha", "Tha", "That was easy" |

Hence the overhaul of the "talent" system. Not that the new one isn't without it's issues but at the very least it does allow someone to play to their personal strengths without gimping themselves outright. |

Actually Frost isn't all that great for leveling. Arcane can become very efficient for leveling at around 75+ since it kills mobs quicker and more consistent than Frost. With Frost, you do need procs to kill mobs quick, such as Fingers of Frost. Those are mostly luck based, with the assured 2 every 30 seconds. However with Arcane, mobs die as quick as Frost with procs, and faster than Frost without procs. You regenerate mana so fast before 85 that you can spam arcane blast all you want and do ridiculous burst damage. |

Anyone that tells you any single spec is THE best leveling spec all the way from 1-85 doesn't have a clue what they are talking about. Every class has a specific spec, given access to certain talents, that will always outperfom another spec at a certain level given equal gear and a competent ability to play. |
