Has the media moguls been told not to talk about the cash shop? with all the threads and discussions on this subject over the weekend, there doesnt seem to be any response on the subject with all the information thats been released today. I have seen all the for and against arguements so I dont really want to see another. I have been looking forward to GW2 as much as many other people have, but this subject I'm on the fence about and deeply concerned as to which direction Anet takes this game. Maybe I'm to overly suspicous, but the lack of info from the weekend and what response they have had from Anet on this matter makes my suspicions sound valid. I hope my fears are unwaranted and that this subject is covered by the media that was involved the weekend gives more insight to Anets stance. ![]() My XIVPad: |

The more you hype an upcoming game in your mind, the more it will fail to meet your expectations. |

Well TB said in his podcast that the cash shop is under a strict NDA, even to the press. He did say that when talking to the developers they said it the shop was very much in flux and they are very receptive to the community on what to put in there and what to take out. |

Originally posted by DJJazzy He says it here: www.mediafire.com/?mdc663ou31s4xaw At around 2:52 until 3:55 The gist of it: he can't talk about it, the press embargo that was lifted included an addemdum that basically said that they can't talk about the cash shop, he'll talk about it in great detail when he can, he's trying to get an interview with one of the devs about it, and that the devs were very enfatical that everything about it is very subject to change, still not 100% certain what they're going to do with it, open to sugestions and practically changing their minds all the time. What can men do against such reckless hate? |

Pretty much what I thought, I get nervous when they get all coy about specifics. GW2 is looking pretty good so far, and would hate to think all the anticipation and wait for something thats looking good is marred by something due to greed on the developers part. ![]() My XIVPad: |

Well if they are receptive, i hope they will just cut the link between gem and the mist castle buff. I think there is nothing more uggly in the rmt influence in our modern mmo is when guild, pvp and rmt are mixed together. |

The cash shop is entirely optional based off the leaked pics flaoting around, nothing in it is mandatory to enjoy the game. Get off the gd cs hate. |

NDA aside, it's pretty much impossible to talk about something as specific as cash shop when it's pretty much in complete Work In Progress state. How is any, professional, commentator supposed to talk about cash shop that was moslty included in the beta to check if it works at all, not knowing the final list of items that will be avalible for purchase? For all we know half of the items there might be quickly put together placeholders, prices aren't finalized, etc. I'm pretty sure the items there will go thorugh several iterations before release as more and more people will be able to both test out the game and comment on it with actual gameplay expierience behind them. Doing so now would be pretty much like commenting on apartment interiors when all you can see is construction site. |

I'm 85% sure anet will make changes to the cash shop based on the community response. They've been working with the community and listening/reacting to their feedback with GW1. Like skill and class changes, sometimes even complete overhauls. I'm 50% sure anet put some of that stuff in the cash shop that would make some people upset just so they could take it out to show that they'll listen to feedback. And if no one complained, they'd just keep it. Win-win. |

You should thank those of us that have posted strong opinions on it. Without us the "Anet is my hero" crowd would allow pretty much anything to happen, even baby seal puppy skin used as packaging... Been a firm backer of the game for many month's but the outcry from the Cash shop has been nothing but good IMO. Even as much as I want to play this game, if they keep the lootbags in the cash shop, I will not play it. When you allow your emotions to bend your principles, you have no principles. And those who exploit that will only be encouraged to exploit it even more. |

It's hysterical how cash shops have been around for ages, hell people even buy toons, but GW2 allowing a cash shop then all of a sudden it's Ohhhh Nooooooo, grab the pitchforks n torches. |

Originally posted by gainesvilleg Their challenge is to sift through the alarmist propaganda and find the actual useful cautionary opinions. Even then, they aren't going to be getting those from game communities like this one. Negative comments from actual paying customers (i.e. pre-purchasers) are going to mean a lot more than some random P2W rage monkey, in some random forum or comments section, since those individuals have shown themselves to have both an emotional and financial investment in the game. If they say something about the shop is wrong, they aren't doing it to troll or bitch for the sake of it. Unlike here. That in mind, I'll reserve my thanks for when it's due. Should be sometime after April 10th... |

Was definately going to pre order this game when available, until i took an arrow....until they annouce that convinience item will be in their cash shop and gave us some sample with their pre order package. For me, i just feel like it's p2w if some random guy i met is gaining level twice as fast as me because he paid for it. Well maybe i got sensitive ego....bleh So much for cosmetic item only in cash shop eh gw2 |
