I got so much |
Let start with good: Dynamic quests are simply awesome. Quote TB "Its first time i feel actually involved in the game world in MMO, or actually in any game. You never experienced something like that" http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=A8-9VEvAmFg#t=844s
Continue to the bad: Item shop... Seems that Anet is going for nickel and diming after all. Items like mysterious chests, prestigue boost, xp boost. Its not cosmetic items as they claimed. Let not mention 5 character slots when game has 8 classes. And RMT , that can lead to horrific game economy exploits and gold seller explosion. However , lets not panic. Although item shop is pretty F2P like. Its not like they block any content or anything like that. Repetitive combat... This is rumour circling the net. Its really hard to comment on this without trying the game by yourself. I choose to dismiss it.
And finally The Ugly: The game is still very much unfinished. Some of us hoped for April,May release... Optimistic estimates now put release at September, October This makes me sad :(

The real question is why did you write your post like a Hiku? Anyways valid concerns and the dyanmic quest system is sounding better and better. Also do not listen to Total Biscuit he is a complete tool and will say and do whatever it takes to pander to any audience. |

I would say most of the people play it for the first time and what they do is simply playing it as they played others. The outcome is them failing hard. After that they go to the forums to complain dodging is useless, game is simply button mashing and dungeon is too hard. How ironic. "Der Weg ist das Ziel." - "The way is the goal." |

Well, it was pretty obvious that the game wasn't finished when they couldn't showcase Asura and Sylvari even to the press. As for the the cash shop, what it will hold depends largely on what they will be allowed to carry. GW2 fanatics and apologists allow for plenty of leeway, so expect to see P2win items if that continues up to launch.
The positives seem to outweight the negatives though for now (although admitedly I don't have first hand experience with the game just yet). |

Originally posted by Ankur It's a pre-purchase. It's your choice if you wish to purchase it while not ready and wait for the release date. This is not the first game that is sold that way, nor it will be the last. And it's definitely not something new, not in gaming, nor in general. |

Originally posted by Xasapis Well, with the Asura I think they didn't show them because they probably are embroiled in a copywrite dispute with the Pokemon developers ;) GW2 "built from the ground up with microtransactions in mind" |

How about thier WvWvW is actually not. Well kinda is .. More like Tol brad or AV with with other servers and it doesn't close it doors, But you'll still have to wait in queue. Because atm there is a 300 (100 each World) population cap (with the prospect of it being higher in the future) for each of the four persistant (4) PVP INSTANCES. At least thats the info i have seen. I would rather my system sutter. "Society in every state is a blessing, but government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one ..." - Thomas Paine |

Originally posted by Lobotomist One thing you didn't mention and that's the handling of DE's in this video by Totalbisquit. I was going to post it showing this is how they are working. The world doesn't wait on you, it's not a timed event because multiple events happen in a zone , and it's definitely not like the public quest system people keep comparing it to in other older games. It's a tree with multiple branches. If A happens the B or C or D can happen, once complete E or F can happen, once complete G or H or I can happen. Oh yeah did anyone else notice that ALL of the npc's talked even tho it wasn't in a cut scene? I did. Sure you can see their text but to all those people who were saying, Yeah VO's were so fabulous, i have to say that this version of the VO system is very much more enjoyable imo because you can continue doing things in the area despite the talking, and you're not stuck having a long drawn out conversation about killing ten bee hives while it's occuring before you can begin the event in the area, you're actually RIGHT there handling it as they are talking back and forth. It's indirect and it's freedom while they npc's are giving you the clues you need to do the things you want to do. |

There were also more importantly multiple objectives to choose from. not all of them were listed in the side bar at the time, but they were there like motivating the workers instead of just picking up the bombs and hurling them at things. |

It will be like all mmo's. It will seem to have come out at release a year too soon and it's fans will turn like rabid dogs. Seriously though. All mmo's should come out with a paid beta period of no less than 6 months up to a year. Players today say they should be able to expect more with modern games. Really? What is the benchmark for this? No mmo in the history of mmo's has launched without nearly all the typical problems that come with a new game launch. Stability, content, balance and support always and forever will be an issue.
I personally don't hang off the ball sacks of any one developer like most seem to here. I hope each and every mmo that comes out is successful as this brings choice and proves the direction of mmo development is solid. This however is far from true. As for GW2 it has a long way to go to make me excited for it yet. Tons can change since the videos I've seen but I must admit it looks purely like a combat grind fest at this time with far too many public quests which have proven time and time again to be repetitive after your very first few run throughs. Do I wish otherwise? Yes and other aspects sound interesting but it makes me wonder why so damn much attention is place upon pve in a so called pvp game. As DAoC proved, pve can easily be nothing more than a pointless grind to set up the main componant of a pvp game.
I've said this for years (as I come from Asheron's Call back in the day): The best pvp in an mmo comes from seemlessly meshing pvp within pve. When seperated a mmo becomes nothing more than segmented mini-games. These are rpg's. Pve should be the driving force behind pvp in a living rpg yet rewards, play areas and often story are completely separated in most mmo's. Developers miss this time and time again. |

Still can't wrap my head around the fact people are so concerned with cash shop because people may be able to level a little faster..oh no..
Expect this game Q4 of 2012, really wouldn't expect it any sooner. Also not sure how the combat could get repetitive already w/ dodge and being able to swap out weapons (wonder how many ppl never even figured that out...) or knew you could dodge. |

So underwhelming, I thought it would be somewhat better even with all my hate on the cash shop. TBs vid sorta showed me this game is not even close to launch, not to mention the instanced PvP that it's fan's are trying to call OWPvP. |
