Nah. I dont want to see pvp in this game atm. I know that it was meant for grand scale pvp battles in the air, mount battles on the land and huge battles at the sea. But the game needs to focus on one thing to get its act togheter, and that is PVE :) The pve aspect is the thing that Vanguard is nowdays known for and to work with its strenghts is probably best.

We all have seen how mmo games with FFAPVP have worked out :)

Vanguard has the best PVE content of any mmo to date,on par with EQ2 and EQ1.It has so much PVE content that a noob would take years to get through,okay we need more end game content like raiding content but that's coming.

Anyone just starting Vanguard or coming back after 5 years really has a vast amount of PVE content waiting for them.I don't mind them bringing back a ffa pvp server but i do mind if the noobs start demanding that certain classes need nurfing and such.

As long as PVP does not effect my PVE then i have no problem.

Heres the real question, why would they listen to people on trial accounts?

Not every MMO needs PVP. vanguard rocks when it comes to PVE and i would rather have them make PVE even better than wasting resources on PVP. This is the best classic MMO in market

Can't bring myself to play this game... everytime I try I logout within about an hour and not again for about a year.

If they bring back the two faction server then yes.  The FFA server is what was force merged with ours and killed our entire community in one night, which created a lot of bad blood for players and the Brad McQuaid debacle.

However, now that I see F2P in the works - there's no point.  My guess is pay to win pvp if it happens.  Sony is a fine example of being as out of touch with reality as is EA (whose CEO  is excited about the future of cash shops and pay to win concepts - check youtube).

So:

1. Yes vote if the old 2 faction server returns.

2. No vote if cash shop exists.

I haven't played Vanguard for a long time, but I vote no either way.

I'm not sure why some people feel they have to flock to a game that doesn't match what they want then try to change it. Every game does not need to be the same. Stop trying to turn non WoW clones into WoW clones for crying out loud. There are plenty of games with great PvP out there, this doesn't need to be one of them.

I want them to optimize the current game before touching pvp again.

I want pvp to be right, but only after pve and performance are right.

I fear that if they tried to optimize code, fix pve AND reinstate plus optimize pvp, we will be left with 3 things in a mess.

When the teams servers were merged into the FFA server it didn't destroy all the community from the teams servers, but from your point of view you wouldn't have cared if they killed the entire FFA pvp server community instead. But it is easy to realize that it was easier to give people more options for grouping/guilding than take them away (ie its easier to turn a teams server into a ffa pvp server because turning a ffa server into teams involves breaking up established guilds) And besides not everyone from the teams server left at the merger.

What really killed pvp in Vanguard was a few factors,

1. Their class rebalances were done with completely no considerations of the effects in pvp (like the druid revamp)

2. They ignored the pvp bugs (like bards being able to attack people in midair who were helpless)

3. Them actually announcing they wouldn't do anymore fixes for pvp until pve was fixed (which means they would continue to break stuff in pvp forever as pve is never "fixed"

Vanguard FFA PvP was the last bastion of good open world PvP. It has not been eclipsed to this day by any A+ title.

Instead of the herpderp mentality of current gen MMO's of racing flat out all the way to level cap, finding there's no content, then complaining there's no content. You spend more time just trying to stay alive, killing those that deserve it (and some that dont) and either ruining someone elses dungeon or watching your back from someone else doing the same to you. There was no incentive to get to endgame whatsoever. It was far more fun getting involved with forging relations with other people/guilds, calling in for help when camped at the altar or trying to gank the guy next to the mailbox carrying a ton of plat. Ingame decisions brought ingame rage and there is nothing better.

Sure, this isolates all the pixel dragon slayers who want to hug each other and make cupcakes but there is still very much a FFA market out there waiting for something good to play.

Having open dungeons and pve content that is controlled by anyone is some of the best fun I've had in an mmo. Class balance doesn't mean squat when you're in a group environment. For the most part, things work as they are, enough. I played in the days of the starfall 1 shot, pulsing untargetable bard group and speedhackers. Not sure how much has changed since then but I'd have no hesitation playing exactly at it was, just with a community to play with.

I left the game in frustration at the bugs and my delusional thoughts that the MMO market was going to continue trending the way Vanguard was, just in a more polished state. I've eaten those words right up and hindsight is a wonderful thing. If F2P brings in enough population to warrant a PvP server I'll be at the door waiting.

Arguing that Vanguard is a PvE game is absurd. If you want to clear the dungeon and slay the dragon to save the princess, you need to earn it.

Yes and another yes! You wrote down exactly what the PVP in this game was about. The ideas in the game were awsome and some of them actually turned out to be rather good- the feeling of actually danger were really good. I loved it. 

However the state of the game is what it is and focus on the current strenghts is the best strategy as I see it.
