And since you are matched with others servers with similar population and win/loss % you will probably be stuck playing against other servers full of people who like to waste money so you will still have no advantage or disadvantage over them! Originally posted by kaiser3282 I disagree. The more gold someone can get quickly, the faster they can gain the advantage and if they can keep accessing that gold without sending members out to constantly farm for it, they can keep the advantage much easier than someone who leveled slower and has to use members to farm more gold for equipment constantly.
I can live with the RMT exchange in pve (not happily, but I can live with it), but all trace of currency needs to be removed from WvWvW. Make it so you can only buy siege engines with points earned directly doing something in pvp or pve, not with gold! |

Does anybody actually KNOW that you can buy PvP supplies with gold yet? Has it been confirmed either way?
Anyway, something that alot of people are glossing over when banging on about bots, NOWHERE in that blog did it say you would be able to convert gems back to real money. Which means, at the most, bots would be able to farm cosmetic items for their account... it's unlikely Anet would make a system where people can convert gems back to money, since that would (as many have said) encourage botting and leave the game a little bit of a mess, since everyone and their dog will just be hoping to make some cash off it. So yes, you will be able to BUY in game gold, from other players, with gems that they can then use to buy cosmetic/cash shop items. But it DOESN'T say they will be able to convert those gems back to real world cash to actually make money from playing/botting. |

Originally posted by Madimorga agree as well, which is why we will be spending our influence on PVE related stuff, what that leaves 4? trees in the guild if you take out the PVP tree?

You make a good point. I will have a couple hours here and there to play. Those that play 8 hours a day will have an advantage over me. I don't want to cry thats not fair and impose a 10 hour / week limit. This whole argument seems to be centered around that someone else out there is getting an advantage and thats not fair! Wonder if anyone will play the game to you know... enjoy the game. |

It will cost money to move and there will be a delay, which is as it should be. However, if I have to pay money to move to a new home server because cheeseheads with too much money ruined pvp, I'm going to be pissed, as well I should be. This should not be allowed to happen. I'm willing to compromise on the pve, but about pvp? For the first time in many months I'm considering not buying this game. |

Originally posted by Madimorga You are either naive or really dumb. In most games the top wolrd pvp guilds always buy their way to the top or farm it to death. The dif here is that while this may be noticeable at the beggining it will fade away it the end since the power plateu is really low. |

Originally posted by The_ember I noticed the same thing. I am trying to see how bots will be undercutting gem sales if they cannot convert it back to cash. 3rd party site perhaps but then we are back to the solution of just buy it from arenanet. |

One reason this should work for GW2 is that there really isn't anything you could spend unlimited gold on that would qualify as "buy to win". The power curve on gear is shallow. There is no ever escalating gear grind after the level cap. There aren't even health/energy potions. I was sceptical about PLEX in Eve, but it seems to have worked out, even though unlimited currency can indeed be converted into greater power. With GW2, I just don't see what one would buy to unbalance the game. One interesting thing to note here is that the gold value of gems is set by the in game economy. If there is a glut of gems for sale, the value of said gems plummets and the balance shifts towards time spent in game vs. money spent out of game. If gems become too expensive, people will just pay for cash shop items directly, rather than looking to purchase gems in game with gold. It's a self correcting system. Originally posted by The_ember You buy blueprints with gold. The actual item (golem, trebuchet etc) is then built with supplies that players need to collect on the WVW map and bring to the construction site. You can't buy the "supply" with gold, it's a resource that is built over time in the camps your team has claimed. |

Originally posted by austriacus The difference is, I had actually hoped that the Buy to Play system would encourage ANet/NCSoft to harshly enforce perma-bans against RMT buyers as well as sellers, making this much less of a problem than it is in sub games.
Maybe I am naive.
Doesn't mean I want to see pvp ruined. |

True, didn't think of it like that, although it's actually a BETTER situation than other games when it comes to combating bots, since they'd basically have to get consistently lucky with the economy in order to profit. Would they not just go for selling the gold they've farmed in the first place? |
