This was all planned from the start.

They can make all the happy endings they want for 13 year old girls and the type of people that sign internet petitions over video games.

For me Mass Effect will always end with Shepard sacrificing himself and becoming the stuff of myth and legend.

If I actually had to sit through something like Shepard settling down with Miranda to start a fucking emu farm and adopting Quarian babies then I'd consider the game ruined.

We all have ways that we want to spend our money. For those who don't give a rip about the 'tragic' ending or who are satisfied with the way it all played out, there's no reason to buy the alternate ending DLC. According to a vast majority of gaming websites, we who are unhappy are disaffected whiners anyway and a sizeable minority so Bioware won't make much anyway, right? ;)

Call me wrong all you wish. Doesn't make me believe it. I want my Shepard to have a chance at the happy life that she's lived through impossible odds for 7 years or so to attain for the universe.

We the gamers cause games to be released buggy, with less content than in the past, and over priced. We tell the companies with our wallets. I personally don't appreciate being ripped off. I prefer to get entire games and a fair price. I didn't purchase Mass Effect 3 and any other game that that gets bad reviews for being released buggy, containing item shops, or downloadable content with release of a game.

I would rather give my money to companies that instead of spending developer time on downloadable content before the game has even been released, spends their time on the game itself. Same goes for item shops. I will not purchase Diablo 3. They had time to get the item shop working yet not get all promised features in? No thank you. You only hurt youself by not being wise with your money.

Fans need closure?  It sounds like some kind of group therarpy session.

Break out a word processor and write the ending you wanted.  Then keep it to yourself so that it remains special.

As far as DLC endings for ME3, it doesn't matter what they charge, I'll be attaining it for free regardless. Between DA2, SWTOR, and now ME3, EAware can kiss my wallet goodbye.

Maybe it's just me being dense here but what is so hard to understand about the ending?  I have watched so many videos of the ending my eyes hurt, just to see what the fuss was about, and had no trouble understanding why each of the ending is the way they are.

I am not trying to be a troll, I really want to know what's not to understand about the end of this game?

I havent played ME3 yet as I have the money set aside for GW2. But anyway I cant say whether the ending is that bad or not since i havent played.  I have always felt in any game, adding an alternate ending is like ripping the last chapter out of a book and replacing it with something that was never supposed to be there in the first place. 

Now if they add more content to explain the reason why this or that happened to Shepard, but leaves the end result the same, I am okay with that. Otherwise leave it as it was intended.

If the ending is that bad, shame on Bioware for releasing something  without much thought.

 This so old news. thta post from Casey has been up on the Bioware boards for almost a week now.

As recently as yesterday (sunday night) Bioware still stated on facebook there would be no ending DLC. The ME3 final hours ap for the iphone (selling for $3 and soon to be out for the PC has notes from the designers/developers Also stating any DLC would be pre-ME3 ending or concurrent, not post)

On most Polls 86% on one site to 98% of 52,000 polled on another disliked the endings. This is what Casey

calls "a few passionate fans" that are unable to let go or understand the ending

   The good news is with this game being highly traded in due to lack of any real replay due to it one ending that can be red, green, or blue colored the price is dropping.

  Suggestion if your interested in the game wait a few weeks and you can get it used for $20-30 dollars. just don't believe any of the advertising as there is only one ending and nothing you do in Me1,2, oe 3 matters in the end other then the colors red, green, and blue.

Yeah and even as proven by this thread, people will pay Bioware to fix the "problem" that was created knowingly by them before  release.

Gah, I fear for the future of games.  It's one thing if you enjoy the game, but if you are that disatisfied with the ending and how it was handled, you're not showing a single atom of discontent.

I seriously hate to admit it, but I would do the same. Originally I told myself that if they did do this, I would just Youtube it, but then the thought of having the save on my 360 without the real closure ending for my Shepard....yea Ill buy it, Ill complain to no end but Ill still buy it.

  They did alot of false advertising stating the game would have more then one Ending and that your choices in the game would effect the outcome. they wen't as far aas to say there would be 16 distinctly different endings and that you could reach the best out come without being forces to play multiplayer.

   In the end it was all lies there is one ending, in red, green , or blue. To get the green ending you have to play multipler. not that it really matters as once again the ending is 98% the same with a different color.

   When i was playing i used to defend Bioware here. Once i got to the empty, shallow, plothole ridden ending i stopped.

... ok, I admit, I haven't played the game yet nor seen the endings. Still, don't see why bad endings have to be avoided like a plague. Or maybe it's only acceptable for horror movies and games for most people.

What people are pissed off about it not the ending itself it is there really is only one ending. Period.  Since you have watched a lot of videos I give you one more that explains it better than I can.

 Its not that the endings are bittersweet as Casey Hudson puts it its that they don't make sense, and dispite all the advertisement  of choice making a difference it doesn't.

  If you were on a mission to save the world and met a alien that told you you must commit suicide in the next 5 mins or else would you do it without even questioning?

  i know i wouldn't and expect neither would any sane person real or fictional.

Don't get me wrong, I'm nowhere dictating how you are supposed to spend your money, its yours after all.

Its not even that i think you are "wrong", I just find your attitude counter-productive. And I will call it as it is, you are part of the problem why we can't have nice things, because you will vote with your wallet for exploitative companies and business-practices and others need to suffer for your vanity.

Where you see a "perfectly reasonable product" to be bought, i see a company holding my character and his story hostage for 10-20$.

Its like you would buy a TV with poor signal quality and the manufacturer told you to pay 1/4th of the TVs price to fix it, and you would say "I'll pay it because I am THAT dissatisfied with the lack of signal quality".

Only in the videogames industry can you say something like this with a straight face. That it comes from a relatively seasoned member of a industry-news site is an even bigger WTF-moment in of itself.

When the first game ever to offer a DLC there were mass people talking about its slippery slope. All the sheeple rationalized it just like your doing now.
