Shocked? No. However I am disappointed in the price of the CE. |

Hm, I wonder how the reactions would be if the ppl from the US also had to pay $80 for the normal edition and $200 for the CE. Just like the UK. I find it amazing that a lot of the posters in this thread don't realise that the UK pays a lot more for the same games. And its not 20% tax (the gameprice difference is 33%). $80 for a normal digital download is a high price. The distribution costs are laughable and the supply has no limit lol. Now, I also think that it is normal having to buy the game. But those price differences are too high if you pay in British pounds or Euro (I don't know the prices in other currencies). |

There are a lot of entitlement-ridden cheapskates in the MMO space today - people who act as though any game company with the audacity to charge them anything for a game is a huge affront to the entire world. It's ridiculous. However, I don't think this is one of those times. The CE cost is just plain, flat out greedy, and the disparity of cost in NA and the EU appears to be compounding that greed. Vote with your wallet. Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned. |

If you live in Europe, or Australia, blame your goverments if you find the prices of games too high, not the developers/publishers. Tariffs, duties and taxes are the most likely culprits. That being said, I have to shake my head at all the fanboys saying they would pay double or more. And yes, if you do make a statement to that effect then you are a fanboy. I'm really looking forward to GW2 myself, but theres no way in hell I'd pay $120 (new games are usually around $60 here in Canada) or more for a standard edtion.

Originally posted by Rohn if you think the CE is overpriced im ok with that. but the disparity is 20% which is the vats, of you like do the math it is 33% like the about guy posted withouth the VAT 20% it would cost you £41 witch is $64.99 (usd) 64.99 is the price after tax for the us. The £50 tax included besides the VAT. £41 + 20% is £49.99 |

I'm dissapointed with the CE price, but overall it's using the basic model price for other games. I'll fork over the 150 for CE,i hope it can cook and clean for me,* crosses fingers*. |

My issue with the CE is actually that I don't like statuettes. In TOR am amazed that they didn't gave a lightsaber instead. For GW2 a helmet or something would have been cooler, something hat would look cool in my bookshelf. The price is not really a problem and while Rytlock is kinda cool he ain't that cool. |

Originally posted by someforumguy Did you ever hear of the Big Mac index? this shows that the UK is in general more expensive then the USA, and so prices of Games are a bit higher too. On the bright side, sallaries in the UK are much better then in the USA.
On top of that we have prices including 20% sales tax in europe, and the prices in the USA are without any sales tax at all.
So get your facts together and just accept these general facts, that dont have anything to do with Arenanet or the whole game industry. Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) |

Originally posted by Lord.Bachus Exactly. Almost everything in Europe is more expensive than the US (and Canada) and often by a fairly significant amount. I don't think people who have lived all their lives in either place understand just how much of a price difference there is. Hell, even here in Canada we pay more for most items than the US, though, not nealy as much as the Euros do.

I'm just guessing that jobs in like Sweden, the UK, France, wherever in Europe, PAY more than what the majority of jobs pay here. In the US you can even have a college degree and be lucky to find a job at a fast food restaurant. It's pathetic.
Oh....and does this game cost grossly more than OTHER games in Europe or are they ALL high. And if they're ALL high....what's with the blaming ArenaNet?

You'll be more shocked to find that people are VOLUNTEERING to pay for crap that should be in the game. I.E the suckups are asking for crap to be cash shop, despite paying this much. Why people are defending Anet's corruption towards cash shop, I don't know. The boot lickers never realize that cash shop is the alternative to subscriptions, except the game cost $0 for it to be like a F2P game. |

Well that's actually more of a case as to how far a dollar or a euro goes. Right now they're both sort of shit. The British pound actually should be getting a bit more for a little less, but they're being charged a significant % more. Probably true with most recent releases. I used to play MMOs like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee. |

Yeah, I'm also not a fan of the statue, I don't mind the art work and artbook and what not, those are great. |

Most expensive game I have ever bought for the PC was SW-ToR last month at Wal-Mart for $64.97. I'm just happy to hear GW2 is not gonna be like the last game I bought for $64.97. $49.99 will be the retail price and that is cool considering all the hype A-Net has generated for yet another single player easy-mode MMO. |

We tend not to spend as far beyond our means like Much of Eirope does and don't let the financial sectors run wild and free like the US does.

49.99 is a really good deal when you will spend that much for almost any MMO on release and also pay a sub fee. Not shocked at all...quite happy to shell out $50 for what appears to be a really good game. |
