Most people took the "CAN'T"  as a typo mistatement and that he actualy meant to say CAN....but I always maintained I wasn't so confident about that... spokesmen tend to be rather tricky/purposefull about thier wording.

i was on at 2 am i was at fleet on an est server at est time and there were over 120 phases at fleet alone, I ran into about 30 people running around in my phase also.

so if this game is dying as some claim why is the population on fleet so high at an off hr? LOok im not saying tor is at 1.7 million subs right now,

Im just saying this game isnt down to 200k subs some claim or going free 2 playin a month. This game is doing pretty well and i dont see a max exodus of people that so many do. 

They may not have 1.7 million players on at once but that doesnt mean they dont have 1.7 million subs between all there regions at this time just because u hate this game.

The only problem is the guy at joystiq has got it wrong. Quoting him just perpetuates a myth. Because sub numbers does not equal people playing.  I can only speak for my relatively small guild but during the first month we would have 20-30 people online at prime time, now it's 5 or 6, HOWEVER I know from reading on our forums that very people actually quit, they're just waiting for more content having done all the existing end game content a lot already.  Some also wanted to make more alts but are waiting for the Legacy system to do that.  So they're taking a break for now. 

Personally I've been through many MMO launches and I've learned there is never enough end game content so I took my time and just reached 50 last week so I still have a lot of content to get through.  As a PVE player I've discovered this past week that I really enjoy the PVP Warzones so I've been doing that quite a lot.  So much fun (when we don't run up against pre-mades).

atm i,m on the weekend free trial..i,m one of the guys who played beta.population wise on the server i,m on or whatever you call it,there are people wherever i go questing.doing justicar quests atm,lvl 14..dont understand why the worry over how many subs this game has?if you like it play it,if you dont then dont play ,simples.

If LA wants SWG players to move to SWTOR, then SWTOR needs to be beefed up, and not remain in its simplistic mediocre form.

When it was revealed that TOR was not going to be SWG part 2, the vets littered this forum for many months with their hate filled diatribes. Anyone who takes at face value what a CEO says about the relative success of their product with such a huge investment shouldn't be trusted with a pair of scissors. It's like the Church of Scientology claiming 15 million+ members, a number which is noTORiously fluffed at least 10-20 fold by considering a member to be anyone who gets nudged into a 'church' and sold a book before never darkening their doors again. At the very least, you have to presume EA are statistically biased in favour of a number that will make investors happy. That said, I am sure they've doubled their investment at this stage so mission accomplished I guess.

In the defence of the OP I think he made the mistake of trusting the Joystiq article. There was a new press release Joystiq in quoting it and adding a couple of lines of commentary still managed to get it 'wrong'.

Dunno when Duty Officers was added was too busy playing SWG last year, It is in STO now

As for SWG that was not the point, and what is the harm in trying to get SWG stuff into SWTOR? These forums are the right place for it, unless SWG is coming back? LA have pushed me into SWTOR, and they may have taken me out of SWG, but they can not take SWG out of me, it is in me good and proper!

With SWG shutting down Dec 15th and SWTOR beginning Dec 20th, LA have basically said to me to quit SWG and play SWTOR, so I now look to SWTOR, but it is lacking in many key areas, so I now try and point out the good things, and hopefully the right people will hear, and add it. If SWG ran along side SWTOR for a while, then SWTOR would have been viewed as a separate different game on its own merits, and if I did not find SWTOR fulflling would not expect SWTOR to change to cater for SWG players, as SWG would have shut down due to actually being dead.

My views of SWG in the previous post was my opinion and people who played SWG to the end, and there are the vets you speak of who also wanted SWG 2. I did not care that SWTOR was not SWG 2 until SWG shut down, as SWTOR + SWG would have been an awesome combination, now that SWTOR is what it is and severely lacking in many areas and no where near a competant MMO, let alone not being a SWG 2, then it needs to shape up, hard and fast.

i just wish i could see more people per area, instead of 50 people in Hutta, 97 people in Taris, etc....

I, for one, do not believe for one second that SWTOR's subs have stabilized at 1.7mil.  Anyone that believes that has partaken of better herbs than I ever have and I have had some really good stuff.  :)
