Mmmm part of the charm is being able to freely murder innocent people on the street. In MMO world that's griefing. In Skyrim it's called being a badass dragonborne. I would love ES mmo if they can figure out the rules between players. Shopping in Riften then all of a sudden an arrow appears in your skull and half your health is gone and the sniper is invisible. Sneaking doesn't work so well vs real players XD Play for fun. Play to win. Play for perfection. Play with friends. Play in another world. Why do you play? |

WIOOOHOO another game to get all hyped up by everyone.. then laugh 2 weeks after release to have everyone flaming and saying what a let down it was! Players expect single player games to only last so long.. MMOs they expect to be able to log on nonstop and get loads and loads of content... well usually that takes time and with todays playerbase.. time is something usually that is not given. |

Couldn't help myself there. Very sorry.
Really though, I'd be up for an ES MMO. No harm in giving it a shot. |

[Mod Edit - too graphic] I,.. Well I got a PS Vita today. Think I'll take it back and buy up some canned goods. I used to play MMOs like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee. |

Let me guess before they even announce anything, our inspiration for Elder Scrolls Online comes from World Of Warcraft and how we will water down, dumb down to the lowest common denominator to garner mass appeal? Am I predicting this ? Yes .... cause we should expect nothing different if it is a hybrid MMO where themepark and sandbox both come into play then I would be more excited maybe even happy. But we all know thats not going to be the case... |

MMOs make a genra worse in my opinion; they haven't done justice for any IP outside of Warcraft; but, even still Warcraft as an RTS is dead, you'll never see that again. If the ES became an MMO, it would most certainly destroy the ES series. The thing that seperates single player RPG's from MMOs is that the entire world revolves around the actions and choices of the player, in an MMO environment, absolutely nothing you do has any effect on the world. So, realistically I don't see how the ES world, that revolves around freedom and immersion could be hammered down into a themepark MMO where your character is just some random no name that no NPC has ever heard of. If this ever did happen, the game itself would be absolutely nothing like the rest of the games in the series and thus, unappealing to anyone who was drawn to it in the past. |

Hmm, we'll see. They make good single player games, but... Buggy Launches: Those games always seem to launch semi-buggy and require community modding before they're polished. That might be somewhat acceptable for single player games, but for MMOs that can spell the deathknell. Look at the buggy launches that have all but killed some games. Established IPs and Expectations: People always have high expectations from existing IPs and the product rarely lives up to the result. Conan, LotR, Star Wars, and others have all launched with varying degrees of success, but none have lived up to their fan's expectations. Established IPs can be very restrictive and, I think can stifle progression and innovation in a game. Business model (freemium, p2p, b2p, f2p) and platform (fat client, browser based, console) will shape what I think about this. The idea sounds nice, but we'll see. |

Intresting, but also *shiver* ..the most buggy game maker of all times is going to make a MMO based on the bugged game IP of all times and a mmo aint got a toolset to let the comunity fix it.. not a single Elderscrols game was ever bug free ,every single one has bin "fixed" by the comunity well besites the few else Elderscrolls games we hated (and yes there were even a few realy bad ones back in the day)

Still rumors at this point. We'll have to wait until May and see if they hold any water.
Even if it is true, will MMO players really be happy with it? It's going to be a themepark, there's no other way they could do it. The ES series has always been about doing quests and running dungeons. It will most likely be sans classes and the gear grind, but still a themepark. Dungeons will most likely be instanced, players will probably own diferent instances of the one house inside the towns. With Bethesda having never done a multiplayer ES game, I don't see PvP being that great, so while there may be open world PvP between the factions, don't expect much to really fight over.
So in all honesty, here comes another themepark, but this time without classes. Not going to get excited just yet.

I am putting my money on the following statement : "If you thought SWTOR was disappointing, then your mind will not be able to comprehend how badly this [Elder Scrolls Online] game will end up being when you finally test it. It will most likely cause you to black out and scream while dreaming of raging morlocks" ''/\/\'' Posted using Iphone bunni |
