So yes...I'm using SuperL3 mod based off realistic lighting+enbseries...and the game looks AMAZING. It really is a cinematic experience.
Here is the link to the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQ3u8Nxn-Og
And a link to the mod: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=11318
(edit)
Here is another video of another lighting mod. For a comparison for the two. Keep in mind, this video is almost totally a slideshow of screenshots...no actual movement, except in the beginning and end. No dungeon shots either. However, dungeons are still really dark (but it doesn't have the shine on everything). It isn't filmed as good as the latest video I took, as I was still messing with things and getting used to how things worked. You guys may like how the mod looks better than the other one, or not... Also, the screenshots became a bit fuzzy in the video for some reason. In my actual original video, they are really clear. So Youtube probably lowered the quality or something. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpNL8f0uHMU

WoW already does WoW good. PvPers that gank newbies, are carebears. They don't want a challenge (like a carebear), they just want easy mode (like a carebear) and a no challenge combat (like a carebear). |

Looks really nice outside. But the cave part looked absolutely over the top and fake. Like every single mm in the entire cave and chambers is completely wet, which doesn't make any sense. |

Cool vid. Looks sweet. I'm mixed on the cave. Very heavy use of contrast, tone mapping and specularity. I'd push the HDRL a bit so the dark areas lightened up as the eye would with the iris opening up. |

Honestly, I actually like the normal look for Skyrim better. Could be just the video, but the textures looked a bit more flat at least the stone of the walkways and buildings in Whiterun. I did not like Bleak Falls Barrow at all though. The lighting was good, but everything else looked, just off somehow. |

Outside look nice. Though textures are bit flat.
Cave look horrible ,sorry.
It look like some kind of organic ,wet insides , like from Aliens movie or something. Thing too much tuning in caves :p |

I haven't played Skyrim in about 3 months but when I did play it I had it on max settings, and after watching your video I can't really see much of a difference between how I remember it looking and your video. I had a highly tweaked .ini file though. With all the bells and whistles enabled. Here is a video I shot of Whiterun's aquaduct system on my system: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2In7GfZpGU Im not saying this mod your linking isn't good. It probably is, but I don't think it changes skyrim from non-movie quality to movie-quality. There was a time when I was walking up to the Gildagreen tree at night in Whiterun and the way the lights cast onto the tree it looked like I was in Beowulf the movie. It felt like a real time rendered pixar movie. So, your mod may enhance the lightmaps and stuff but, a .ini tweaked skyrim with anti aliasing and maxed shadows will already look cinema quality.

It looks good, like most of the major mods since it's release.. but, as usual its full of clean, perfect lines and totally unrealistic.
Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat them. |

Also, keep in mind...you can raise/lower in-game brightness and it actually changes how it looks quite a bit. I have since lowered the brightness a tad from the first video I linked, and it actually looks quite a bit better.
The 2nd mod I linked to aims for a darker atmosphere, but personally, I thought it was too dark. However, it was kind of more realistic in some ways. But, I couldn't even see the color of my character's eyes with it. But quite a few people like that mod more, it seems. But, that is why there are lots of options or leaving the game as just vanilla lighting, if that is what one prefers. That is the good thing about mods, there is lots of them and something for everyone. Everyone likes something different.
In any case...all in the matter of eye of the beholder. Some people like a more colorful look to their game (which seems to be the most popular type on Nexus), others like a darker atmosphere and others in-between.
As for the caves...I actually like them a lot more than vanilla. But I can see why others may not like it. The problem with caves in the 2nd mod, that I like a lot better in the 1st...is the 2nd mod makes light sources really dark, so a torch that should illuminate a larger area is really dim. Where as the 1st mod (SuperL3), it is more realistic in my opinion. I prefer it personally, anyway.
Days do look a bit like vanilla days, however dawn/dusk/night and dungeons are a lot different.
Also, keep in mind with ENBseries until the new version is released, isn't optimized. Also, version 52 of SuperL3 mod is a lot better than the latest versions (that are in beta). For some reason, V53 lags a lot more, even with depth of field+ambient occlusion in-active. Lighting also looks a lot better in V52. Where as version 52 runs a lot better, even with ambient occlusion active.
However, depth of field in this mod, while it looks incredibly nice...you don't see it in the video, because it lags like hell. I lost 15-20 fps with depth of field active. What the mod does with DoF, is when you focus on an npc/object or whatever in front of you, the background blurs and the target gets more focused. It is actually really realistic, since that is exactly what happens in real life. But need a god-like PC to run it...and I don't even know if it would still run with good performance. Probably need to wait for the original ENBseries creator to release the optimized version, whenever that is.
Which brings me to the last thing...realistic lighting by Plutoman101+Redguards version looks nice (though I personally prefer SuperL3), AND Realistic Lighting runs WAY better than any ENBseries mod, which greatly lessens performance. This may change when ENBseries gets updated. But, you'll have to keep that in mind.
There is also a lot of other lighting mods on Nexus, if you want something different than vanilla. Or not, there is a lot of texture mods too that keep the vanilla feel, but just improve the texture quality. Originally posted by forest-nl Yeah, its just a matter of taste really. Someone may like a certain mod, and another person may despise it.
I'll do a new video of SuperL3 sometime. I turned off bloom, and it solved a lot of the problem(s) you guys commented on. It looks way better and not so washed out. It looks a lot better (in my eyes), compared to before. My youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/TheExplorium MMORPG.com is like 4chan, but for gamers. WoW already does WoW good. Originally posted by Kaneth I have to agree with you Kaneth, for some reason I think it might be a good mod for those with lower end cards? (just a geuss) Obviously the movie clip is compressed so we might not really see how good it actualy looks. But comparing my view when playing Skyrim with the view from the OP then I must say my own view without any mods looks allot better then what was shown. |
