Just chiming in to say that Garrett doesn't get excited about every game very easily, and he's just as skeptical of browser games... but he called me after his appointment and pretty much squealed like a fanboy for an hour about how great this looked and how much ArtPlant (the devs) "get it". I'd be cautiously optimistic honestly. |

The picture looks good for a browser game; so i'm unsure till more pictures are released. Maybe browser is going to be the next "thing,"... maybe not. Bigpoint (not the developers though?)- Can't say much on them they have 2 games that have some popularity with Battlestar (which i didn't care for myself) and DrakenSang (not sure on this one); so I can't say much for the company yet, but for a big name series like this I'd want a high profile company doing it. Don't care about Sandbox or themepark games, they are hit and miss to everyone. People are going to complain about them because they have an idea of how they are all; yet some are better then others. So I'll wait till more information till I can speculate more, then find out through gameplay or people's confessions. |

It'll be a cold day in hell before I'm ever optimistic about anything BigPoint touch. |

Mmm after researching more this could be pretty cool. I am down with the advancement of browser based games if they look this good. I do wonder about performance/instancing/number of players/etc. but it isn't enough to make me write the game off. My biggest concern is the cash shop setup, but I will try to keep an open mind. It is sandboxey after all.
Check this out (from massively article):
Can't buy me win
Refreshingly, when asked whether owning the biggest wallet would be akin to an instant win button, the Bigpoint reps said no. In fact, they emphasized that skill gained through gameplay would basically always beat financing. Jorgen said, "A skilled player will always beat a paying player, even though he is many levels below. [...] We want to really emphasize that all the items in the game can be gained through gameplay." He further stated that some items and skills will be looted-only or available only in game and never available for purchase.

Just cause it's only going to launch with 3 developed factions, doesn't mean that those will be the only ones in the game EVER... (think 'Expansion Packs' people!)
I'm also imagining that since perma-death in a game is a cardinal sin, (despite it being completely appropriate to the setting,) everyone plays as Baeric Dondarrion right? Or do all players get to buy their own Thoros or Melissandre from the cash shop? LOL.
More likely than not, it will hardly be recognizable as the IP it's based on, and thus I won't have any problem checking it out since it will only be a farce of the IP. |

Disappointing article. I have already read FAR more detailed descriptions of how the politics and game in general is supposed to work than what is written in this article.
As for the game I'll be following it. |

Originally posted by BillMurphy Wait a minute, it is a f2p pvp game. Now if the devs get it there won't be anything in the item shop that effects pvp, oh wait, it is Bigpoint...that will never happen. This game has pay-to-win written all over it. How can anyone be optimistic with that scenario? I'd love to see a decent sandbox game make it, but it is all about the bigger wallet in pay-to-win games. So unless something earth shattering happens, like Bigpoint making the item shop strictly fluff, don't have much hope for this game. |

Martin needs to quit screwing around and finish the series. This is probably the worst IP choice for a game in years. They're going to end up using the name, the map, and nothng else. "Any sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice." ~Greys Law |

Never played any GoT games, but I have to say this looks appealing, artisically. It's been WAY too long waiting for a more serious, european style palette hardcore medieval MMO. And the sandbox & PvP aspects sound enticing, but I hope it won't be a grind fest, that would just be a huge anti climax. |

Originally posted by RefMinor Because NPC's can follow a script and play their role. A real player with FFA PvP will not play any role other than bandit/ganker. Players just aren't smart enough, or mature enough to play within their role, thus bettering the experience of PvP when it happens. |

A theme park where everyone gets to be Carrie, or a sandbox where everyone sleeps with everything that moves?

Do you really need to have (GoT) in there... its fairly retardo. Its called game of thrones is it really hard to type a few more letters? I mean seriously stop with the business of giving every game a name from its first letters. If they wanted their game to be called something moronic such as GoT... GoT... what is that, just stop enough is enough.
I can understand the more popular games maybe getting a nickname such as wow but you can actually say wow and it makes sense. I WILL NEVER walk around saying hey man, you played got lately? Fucking queer man, just type out the game name, stop being silly with these nicknames. |

Oh no a gaming company has got its hands on another IP. Cue mad hype build up and countless tie-ins. Only time will tell if the game beneath the title is a worthy addition to the incredibly overcrowded MMO genre.

Why is it that open world singleplayer games get praised and sell like hotcakes but open world MMO's get sh*t on?
Fallout, Oblivion, Assassins Creed, Far Cry, Crysis , etc...
I loved Ultima Online, when they split up the world into trammel and felucca I went to private servers to get the open world PVP experience, I'm not even that into PVP, but it felt right knowing you could be killed at any given moment made it feel as though you accomplished something. Risk/reward has been taken out of every MMO nowadays and the generation growing up has gotten accustomed to that, prancing around like a fairy...
I'll be watching out for this game, seems promising! |
