Originally posted by itgrowls For one, they didn't say they have EXACTLY the same number of subscribers. Secondly, it's no less possible to have an extremely mild loss of retention than it is to see subs go up significantly or down. It's a number, just like any other. |

This statement is the exact same one that was made before. Almost verbatim which is slightly odd. So they experienced neither any growth or recession? How the fuck does that work? However, they do once again chime the majority line rather than specifics so...kind of hard to hold them to anything without specifics and simply using the majority schtick...again...with the exact same figure. I'm going to hold out judgement one way or the other until I see their next quarter's results. I personally think regardless the article that there has been a drop in population but as I keep saying we'll see soon enough though. Certainly was a rather severe decline on the two servers I played on. 1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical. 2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself. 3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose. |

I find this incredibly hard to believe for some reason. All MMOs dip in subs, EA stating they have zero loss does not seem credible. |

Originally posted by Wickedjelly It's quite easy to puzzle it out. Contrary to the OPs claim that they lost 0 subscriptions, what is possible is that they reached a steady state. They're loosing as many subs as they're gaining. Which then fits into the Cowen prediction that overall growth might reach 2 million subs by the end of the year. You'll have platuea's where sub numbers stabalize.

Originally posted by Dredphyre they reached a steady state. They're loosing as many subs as they're gaining. Uh yeah, if we were six months or a year out than I would buy this. I would probably be saying it myself. But considering the length of time we're talking about sorry I don't. I think it more boils down to saying the majority of 1.7 million are subbed both times leaves an enormous amount of room for the numbers to have varied between when the exact same statement was made both times. 1. LOL It's only because of all the morons that believed the lies and hype and paid for 3 or 6 month subscription packages. I have 5 friends that bought the 6 month even though I warned them and none of them are still playing.

There is no way they even have a million subs. The servers are all ghost towns. Subs may be close to a million but the population is more likely close to 500k. |

Some people seem to forget that there ARE MMOs which increase in numbers. If SWTOR has reached a steady state, gaining as many subs as it's loosing, it could be following the path of WoW or EVE right now. |

Originally posted by Wickedjelly So why does it have to be 6 months to a year? Why that arbitrary time frame? Both WoW and EVE had rising average subscription numbers. 1.7m subscriptions for SWTOR could simply be that steady state before the climb. |

Clearly, EA is a company that appreciates true talent and artistic vision in favor of bland mainstream garbage. Their success is due to SWTOR's living, breathing world. Oh, and Gabe Amatangelo's inspired vision and mastery of PvP combat.
