Can a sylvari or what ever race they are called. Can they be a engineer class?
I am wanting to be a range player with guns. Though I know charr are able too. THough i wanna be sylvari. |

yes sir in game you pick any race you wanna play and then after that you pick any profetion you wanna play as far as i know anet never say some of the race will have sertain profetion type u can pick wtv race u want and wtv profetion you want easy as that

Yes, all races can be all classes. No restrictions there. |

Yeah, they can. Warriors can also use a rifle, thiefs and mesmers can use pistols so you don´even have to be engineer. But of course they can use flamethrowers and that is something only they can. :) |

Ninjaed, also in case of someone comes saying "hurrr a plant tipe person using weapons and tenchnology doesnt make sense" i have to say that sylvaris are not forest spirits or sprites of any kind, they are normal tree-people, curious and inteligent who want to learn all they can about magic, technology, etc. |

So if i was a warrior , with a gun as a sylvari . will anyone be mad if I don't tank and just sit there a shoot people? |

I just want the gun for pvp situations on the fort. I just wanna stand on the ramparts shooting down at the enemy during the world vs world XD
Other then that. sure ill keep a shield and sword at all times when things are going need to get close up and personal. |

No, they won't be mad if you don't try to tank. In fact, they might get mad if you did try to tank, because you'll most likely get killed all the time. "I'll lead, you follow." |

THIS is how it will actually be. Disregard what other people are saying about people getting mad. The game is designed so that taking hits is always bad. At very early launch, some exceptionally bad players who haven't been following the game at all might want you to tank, but after a few levels most players will understand better how the game works. They'll know that you aren't supposed to tank, and they will only get mad at you if you don't get out of the way. Guild Wars 2 is not a hard game to learn. Not everyone will fully grasp it in the very first 48 hours, but in regular play, you aren't going to have to constantly dodge bad players. Thinking that only a handful of us are going to be able to wrap our heads around "the glory that is Guild Wars 2 combat" is a very elitist attitude. People who understand the game will be in the vast majority. Finally, for the OP, here's a video showing a Skilled Warrior in action. Everyone will have to play like this if a monster decides to go after them, and you can't always predict whom a monster will attack. Everything I've seen so far makes me believe that if you don't level out every weapon set available to you then you are doing it wrong. Not taking advantage of the potential amount of combos you can get from weapon swapping in combat would also limit your effectiveness. No, people won't get mad at you for not "tanking", but they will probably get mad at you for playing your character at under half of it's effectiveness. You should consider going into the game with the mindset of "I want to see what the warrior can do with all these options and figure out how to play the warrior as best I can" rather than already deciding on wanting to only use one weapon and playstyle before anyone has even truly played the game outside of events/demos. |
