Originally posted by Garvon3 So by your statement the world of wow is also instanced? No it HAS INSTANCES in it but the WORLD isnt instanced... the world is free roaming where everyone goes, instances such as dungeons and PRIVATE story quests are apart from the world as it has to be. So, wow is an instanced game by your parameters?
Warhammer too? "I am not a robot. I am a unicorn." |

Originally posted by ariboersma With all the phasing it has? Mostly. You folks were trying to tell me that elements of the game world were not instanced. This is false. The dungeons are instanced. So yes, the feature I want, is an entirely uninstanced game world, whereas now we have a partially instanced game world. Now that I've broken it down for you, can you understand? |

Originally posted by Garvon3 Yes, you want the game to change to something it's not by removing content from the game instead of suggesting something which can be added without changing the game and removing content. |

Originally posted by ariboersma That's because AoC was badly designed. Ever play in Darkness Falls? That level 10-50 dungeon in Dark Age of Camelot? The one where you never had to wait for a spawn or mob ever? Yeah, that was a GOOD IDEA! See, I can do it too. Just because WoW and AoC are so badly designed that they cannot function without instances doesn't mean all games are like that. |

Originally posted by Diovidius Precisely. The thread is about what would be the icing on the cake FOR ME. And that'd be it. I hate instancing in almost all its forms in MMOs because it makes the game feel less like an MMO. So that is the change I would personally want to make this game perfect FOR ME. |

Originally posted by Diovidius I believe the line was crossed with "cba with this stupid shit was said". And I wouldn't say its a difference of opinion, more of someone who is ignorant (Fir) trying to tell someone who appears to have actually played a lot of MMOs (Garvon) that instancing is necessary in all MMOs. Which is absolutely laughably false and kudos to Garvon for calling them out on it. |

Originally posted by SignusMOriginally posted by Diovidius I agree with that. Also EvE and Vanguard works fine without instanced dungeons, so it is perfectly possible. As for not being happy that someone's opinion is that they would like an uninstanced world as their choice of icing, I can only say, don't create threads on a generic MMO site if you don't want to hear a variety of opinions debated. Head off to the official site and all sing off the same hymn sheet. "i don't waste my time building relationship in games" - nariusseldon |

Icing would be Tengu or Kodan (for illustration) or some other minor race aiming to break the ranks and join the major 5 races: Evidence of this & story continuation after Zhaitan. : ) |

Originally posted by RefMinor What I said had nothing to do with what Garvon orginally posted, rather the squabble that followed, this thread isn't about whether games work with instanced dungeons or not, it's not about whether GW2 is instanced or not, those debates are for a different thread. For every minute you are angry , you lose 60 seconds of happiness."-Emerson If you can't argue the point don't say anything at all. |

Originally posted by Distopia GW2 have some stuff like that. Heck it even have different alphabets that you can figure out (you, not your character) so you can read old inscriptions and stuff like that if you really are in to the lore. No collectable books though, you have to puzzle it together as you play. Here is a little reading: http://booncontrol.com/threads/content-designer-matthew-medina-alphabets-of-gw2.174/ For me personally, mounted combat is high on the list of features I would like to see. Good mounted combat that just like underwater combat changes your skills and weapons. As for smaller stuff I would like personal insignias. I would like some heraldry to put on my shield and to be able to put it or some runes on the items I craft if I feel for it. |
