Originally posted by RizelStar Yeah, I was really stretching with the DE one. But it does concern me a bit. I was one of the few that still really enjoyed rifting the whole time I played but goddamn it got to be a pain when so many just felt like not doing them anymore. I just hope they stay varied enough that people don't lose interest in doing DEs as well. You know how damn finnicky these players can be at times. They are a lot more varied than rifts to be sure, but I was more referring to the player mentailty in regard to what happened with those rather than saying they're one in the same. Really it is the players that concern me heh. Just as with the dungeons. They seem to be great in design but will people still put forth an effort with them past the first few weeks or will the majority fizzle out on participating in them making it a pain in the rear for those still wanting to complete them or those that get into the game after the launch period? That is my only real concern. Nice topic really. Glad to see no flame wars have sprouted either. 1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical. 2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself. 3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose. |

Originally posted by Crinnim Actually, Taela just enjoys trolling on the GW2 forums. Most of her posts go something like this: "It's not a sandbox so I don't like it..." So I'm surprised that her reasons for not buying the game this time is that there is no mounts.

Originally posted by Sarielle undie siege is a bonus for me. i'm looking forward to a few giggles watching a warrior wade into an ocean of enemy players in wvw wearing no pants because they broke, but still wanting to get a few kills before repairing. awesome +10. and let's face it with factions - not many mmos use them properly anyway because the majority cry when they're getting griefed. so. this is as good a solution as any. maybe better because it may promote a nicer level of comeraderie on each server as opposed to everyone not wanting to talk to each other. i look forward to the wvw only because i feel at the end of battles when you're out in the world, you'll be recognising the people you fought with. in other games, there's so much server jumping you don't even bother paying attention to other players. here, if you notice someone doing something great, chances are you'll see them again wandering around and you can say, "hi! you're that guy!" this is how legends are made. it's actually quite clever of anet if you think about it. |

Originally posted by jinxxed0 I doubt the newer players will rarely ever feel alone when playing the game. Anet has specifically made the majority of PvE gameplay based around dynamic events and group objective that scale depending on the size of the group. This will be a lure for all players in the area looking for some easy exp. Anyways you get downscaled to the appropriate level for that particular zone, so veteran players should get some rewards for doing events and helping lowbies with their adventures as well.

Dungeons and other challenging PvE content might turn intoo a kite fest. I really dislike kiting. Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) |

@LadyNoh the events are happening constantly all over.. its not like Rift where if one opens up in town and you are alone you are screwed or you want to do a rift and have to find one to open and find ppl to help you with. It is the world, its all over.. if you dont want to do one move on... there is nothing making you go to a certain location such as a quest hub with a rift smack dab in the middle of it with elite mobs owning you and your quest givers >.<
@jinned the game cannot be fully soloed, the dungeons and the high end meta type DEs are in no way soloable. You get rewarded for doing those group events and dungeons.
@Fenestil keep watching vids some are quite hard.
@NMStudio... just no... go back to WoW although I am a fan of mounts and that request has some merit
@Teala seriously?!?! you wont play a game simply because it has no mount? If you played GW1 you would understand its not needed and although it would be nice... its not a game killer.. too much else going for GW2
for me... hmmm I dont like the naked when broken gear mostly because I like my character looking nice. I also think that gear becoming broken in PVP shouldn't be in... in PVP you die.. you cannot always prevent it especially if you get swamped by a grp and are alone or caught unawares. I also would love to see the Dervish, I dont want to play one but so many ppl love the prof and it is pretty unigue.

Lack of a "Rising attack", not having the ability to counter a knockdown feels oddly limiting, I blame arcades. |

lack of an "evil" side, no undead, orcs etc. id love to play an orc in GW2 not some naff looking horned dog man that bounces everywhere |

I want ingame emote rewards from PvP just like in GW1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_PZqLG6yj0&feature=related But I fear they went away from any rewards from PvP at all since you would be unnable to get a group if you were low ranked, but again low ranked people were mostly terri bad, so why not reward the people that actually spent time and are good. I know we will get PvP armor, but meh, rather get emotes. |

Travel / Death systems... to me feels like a single player console rpg..
The classless classes... everyone can do everything, just some do almost everything a little different then the next class that can do everything..
But no monthy sub is pretty cool. xD |

Some things I'm scared of (completely personal problems though) The class skills use too much of same color and lack others, let me explain: Necromancer is way too green and dark Guardian is Blue, blue, blue and blue again Mesmer is violet etc. It's kinda boring IMO but I understand it's an easy indicator to instantly know who you're facing, though it's very monothematic IMO, and one thing is that you know you're facing guardian, but the it's very hard to distinguish the skills he uses (But who knows, I havent played the game yet,so I might change my opinion on it very easily) The second thing are the boons and conditions...I dunno but I find them somehow very simpified and when you look at the gameplay, most skills and abilities resolve around making the most of those conditions and nothing else..For me it does that most of the skills look very similar and not special (ie. they dont have the "special" feel,it's hard to explain) ... But I hope I'll change my opinion on this once I playe the game as well

The LOTR movies showed evil races that actually look evil. But looking like that I wonder if they would become a popular choice though :) |

I'm not really convinced about the respec limitations for the traits. But I'll have to play first to get a better impression. |

1) The effects, really over the top and poorly done IMO, especially the fire.
2) No OWPvP or dueling
3) No Guild Wars in Guild Wars
4) No mounts, seriously, I don't care if there is porting like others have said, mounts are awesome, although flying mounts can stay away.
5) Attacks and monsters feel weak and powerless most of the times, you swing around a sword at lightspeed and it hits the monster and it does not flinch. |

As far as I know there isn't dueling exactly, but there is the ability to make a custom 1v1 structured PVP match. http://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/pvp/pvp-overview/ The image on that page also shows a filter for only showing friends' games.
I don't want to rehash the trait debate here, but it's at the top of my list. I understand their change to what traits are about and I agree with it. Previously they were on the fly modifications, now they're allowing you to skew towards a playstyle. My big concern is that it's 300x more complicated than the skill system, it's possible to have traits which don't help your currently equipped skills, and newbies are going to expect that they should min max (having been conditioned to do it in other games). If ArenaNet is taking our feedback and looking into those issues then I'm happy. |
