Given everything we can possibly know about the two, it's GW2. No contest. Action based combat is interesting and fun, but I'd rather have traditional MMO combat in a more dynamic, event based world than action based combat using a quest system tacked onto a grinder after the fact. As it stands, unless a game can use the traditional system with the story quality of LotRO's Epic quests or TOR's class quests(full VO not required), I'm probably not going to be able to stay interested. And buy2play as opposed to buy+sub? That's the final straw. |

i will play Both, since one is free and the other has a sub fee. so it is perfectly viable for anyone to play both. currently i'am playing Tera beta and so far i love the game. having lots of fun. |

GW2 is more ambitious, and has many more innovative features, and more content. TERA has sexy avatars.
I will play both. |

In the long run, TERA will just be another grindfest mmo. The real question is: Archeage VS Guildwars 2 |

I'll go with the company I've actually heard of. So yeah, I'm gonna go out on a limb and pick Guild Wars 2. Tera and Archeage will be F2P with 18 months. That's my bold prediction. I just wasn't impressed with Tera for my experience in the beta and I really don't have a lot of faith in ArcheAge either (I think that's the name of the game, LOL). I rarely see mostly unheard of companies rise up and make a successful MMO in recent years (Trion is the exception to this rule). I could be wrong but the safe momey is on GW2. |

Originally posted by Elloa I honestly feel GW2 is going to be the biggest hit since WoW. Tera is fine if you like traditional Themepark clone with minimal innovation and certain Asian quirks but will prolly do no better then Rift or SWTOR if not worse. These are my honest opnions after CBT3 this weekend. I just dont like alot of what is Tera and never will but those are my assessments so its best to come to come to your own. |

Tera is basically a themepark MMO with action combat and the same item grind in the end as most other games have right now. If you like the themepark model, it may work for you, but for most people who are getting tired of it and want something new it just won't fly. The questing feels dated, the UI is cumbersome and unintuitive, the combat animations root you in place and even in the starting areas it reuses alot of the same models for mobs. This is not to mention that Tera is already doing poorly in the East and pretty much every MMO that starts in the East does not do well when it comes over to the West. So if it is already not doing well over there, issues are gonna be much worse here. The graphic style is also hit or miss if you are not an anime fan. I would also like to add that beta feedback has not been overly positive, which is very bad. Some of the biggest "failures" in terms of retention after a few months were well recieved in beta. Guild Wars 2 has a huge following and will sell off hype alone since the box is the only cost. Honestly, all the other stuff aside, that almost speaks for itself here. We have seen how many people try new MMOs..trying GW2 is the same thing is staying subbed to another game. The price is probably the biggest win for GW2 vs any other game. GW2 is more about a fun game not relying on the "carrot on a stick" mentality most MMOs have. It is about getting in and playing with your friends without any kind of restriction. It sounds more casual by nature, but the competitive parts of the game will stand out for those who like to be more hardcore. This is my most logical idea I can come with for GW2 vs Tera. As for me, to be brutally honest: GW2 won't even be in the same league as Tera and it will probably be swept under the sea of GW2 + SWTOR content patches + D3 players. Even if it launches smoothly no one will care or give it a second look, in my opinion. A smooth launch doesn't mean jack these days anyways. |

While Tera is probably more oriented arround fight and combat. Both game seem beautiful and attractive in their own way. |
