I read the reviews on game review sites and they seem to give this game high ratings. But when I come here it's all doom and gloom. Should I even try this game or is it really that bad? |

If you can accept a monthly fee for a single player game you could check it out. If you are after a good MMO-game skip it right away cause it will never be that. |

If you enjoy paying a subscription to play a single player game, then you'll love SW. Waiting on: Guild Wars 2 |

If you are expecting SWG2, you won't like it. |

If you enjoyed Star Wars Episode I (78 Reasons)then you might like this game. I would not even go as far as saying this was a decent single player game.. but if your hell bent on playing it - you might as well try enjoy the VO class quests - for me thats the only thing that kept me entertained for the one month..
All hail the Barn Owl! oh.. and the RED SQUIRREL!!! |

different people have different opinions on this game..my problem with it is that it is too instanced.everywhee you go its a load screen..imo its not an mmo.more like a solo game with online features.but i think you might enjoy it .i enjoyed the beta but refused to pay the price they asked for it..was not worth £45 in my eyes.but i will probably end up playing it at some stage..when the price drops to £5 or something like that.it still has a few bugs as well..but that is the same as every mmo out there in the end its down to personal choice..only way to find out is to play y/self..dont listen to gaming site reviews as they are kind of biased, being paid to advertise and all that.listen to players and what there thoughts are.dont listen to haters, they have there own agenda as well. |

Do the trial when they release it, and see for yourself. Taking advice from anyone on this site is like asking a Truther who to vote for in the election. Besides, they have NO idea what you're looking for n a game. |

totally agree, its all personal choice, i played mmo's from anarchy online to wow , etc and i love swtor, its a change, and the new content they are bringing in really has me stoked, so again, you will never know by reading this post you will have to try it for yourself now i believe they are getting ready to offer 7 days of trial, that should give new players the answer they need |

Originally posted by sirphobos This is pretty much it. If one likes bioware games and wants a more multi-player version then this game is very good. I realize some say it's "not an mmo" but I"ve done more grouping in SWToR than many other games I've played in the past. But your mileage may vary. The game has its issues such as the planets are more like quest hubs than places to "be" but it can be very fun. |

I loved Eve Online right up until the T20 scandal. LOTRO was a great two years and I'd still be playing if I wasn't burned out. DDO is a nice diversion but not a full-time game for me. GW was a good 'change of pace' MMO and I'm going to do the same with GW2. I played Mabinogi (late 2007-late 2009) for two years and it's a freakin' F2P Korean grindfest with 2001 production values run by one of the most dysfunctional and greediest MMO companies on the planet. Fallen Earth was great, but died with the 1.5 patch and the massive exodus... Wakfu is cute, but the players are too jerkish so I'm probably not going to do much there. STO was a good month. At least in space.... DCUO has been fun. Rift started well, was better than SWTOR, but I got tired of always being interrupted by rifts... Just wore me out...
The problem with SWTOR is YOU HAVE NO VOICE IN YOUR GAME EXPERIENCE. Everything is so on rails that you're just another drone. It's less of a personal experience than a book. At least with a book you can IMAGINE what the other people sound like. Here, it's all crappy, phony-choice voice acting.
May as wel play a bad CRPG. Least you won't have to pay a monthly rent to finish a bunch of bad stories.

A voice over of reason! I have exacly the same feeling towards SWTOR.. If you dislike games where crafting is boring, end game is like a bucket with holes in it and everything is set "on rails" you might as well give it a miss :D All hail the Barn Owl! oh.. and the RED SQUIRREL!!! |

SWTOR is ok. Its as singleplayer or as multiplayer as you make it. Which is good. Seems that some people are bend on opinion that if you arent forced to group (or others arent forced to group with you) every second you play it it isnt a MMO. You can judge for yourself. If you like good story and themepark MMOs its stnadard representative of the genre with much better story and full voiceovers. |

It depends what you are looking for in a game. This game is extremely disappointing on a lot of counts, especially when you consider how good it should have been. That said, it's worth a try. There are two problems though: firstly, this game is exceptionally expensive (even though the price has dropped steeply, I personally think it's horribly overpriced), and secondly, it only have between 2-6 playability in it. My recommendation would be to wait until the forthcoming free trial - or else buy it and don't subscribe for any paid time until you are certain you are in it for the long haul. |

I have done more grouping in this so called "single player" mmo than I ever did in my years in WoW and the game lends itself far more to playing in a group than a lot of other games do. Really only you can decide if you like it or not, buddy invites should be out now, I am sure you can find someone to send you a key so you can try it for a week before you buy. |

Originally posted by sirphobosOriginally posted by laserbrain Haha, couldn't have said it better. I'm still looking for eq1 to be remade with better gfx. SWTOR is not the 1/10 many on this site would have you believe. If limited freedom doesnt make you stroke out (as a few posters above me may have) it is likely worth the box price and free month. |

OP if you have played KOTOR 1 and 2 and you liked them you will like this game id say there is not much to do after 50 right now and it s not the best mmo ive played 1-49 pvp was fun for me then turned to crap w/ out the gear at 50

[mod edit] As with this game, the opinion for that varies, some people love it, others think its unnatural. Back to the OP, the game isnt bad, its just nothing special. Its a well rounded WoW clone in a SW coat of paint. If you are a casual gamer youll probably like it, if you are a rabid MMO fan like the rest of the people on this board, you will think its boring. |
