Not made by but published by Gamigo and made/developed by Unreal U http://www.realu.com.sg/ Really really looked intresting and certainly something to keep my eye on. For the rest only time will tell. |

The books ware great and just the world in which this tetralogy is set is so immersive and interesting. I really hope that Gamigo and Real U will succeed in repeating the same feeling in this upcoming mmo. |

i'd have picked the shadowplay books for my tad williams books of choice to make into a game, either way i'm happy to see it. he's a good author (in my top 4 or 5 fantasists) i do wish it were turbine or even NC or someone other than gamigo.
to me the made-for-f2p games all really still feel third-rate, i think the books deserve more. RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid. Currently Playing EVE, POTBS Recommendation of a game you probably haven't tried: POTBS, Atlantica, L2 |

To me, that last is the real issue. I've never played a made-to-be free-to-play game that was any good at all. However, being that it was announced in 2008, and it will be released in the third quarter of this year, it will have been in development for around four years. That's not as long as some AAA games, but it isn't like they threw it together in a drunk weekend like some free-to-play games look like they were. "There are two great powers, and they've been fighting since time began. Every advance in human life, every scrap of knowledge and wisdom and decency we have has been torn by one side from the teeth of the other. Every little increase in human freedom has been fought over ferociously between those who want us to know more and be wiser and stronger, and those who want us to obey and be humble and submit." — John Parry, to his son Will; "The Subtle Knife," by Phillip Pullman |

And how exactly did your mind get blown? What exactly in this video made you go "Oh holy crap, what an amazing game!"? I'm genuinely asking if game trailers that detail only visual effects & graphics completely sell you on a product before actually learning anything about the game, mechanics, style of advancement, exploration, crafting, or how PVE & if any PVP is handled? There was nothing in this video that was impressive aside from their art-style. They detailed NOTHING other than their Art-Style. I'm wondering if all it takes is a pretty "First Reveal" trailer to get people to buy a product nowadays? It may explain the current state of the MMO market. :( The Theory of Conservative Conservation of Ignorant Stupidity: |

Originally posted by D_I_B Basically that's how the books are (disclaimer, only read the first one, still trying to get the other ones). Basically it takes place on an online VR world where some characters are playing in a fantasy setting, others in sci-fi, others in what could be described as second life on acid and so on, the plot having to do with political conspiracies (both in the real and virtual world) and a disease aparently caught online where people end up in a coma but still appear to be online and the otherland, a kind of paralel network where people is unable to disconnect, and if they die in the virtual world, they die in the real world as well (there are paralels to the Matrix, but the first book came out several years before) What can men do against such reckless hate? |

Toward the end of the video, it says "Create" and what is apparently an entire zone being created. Does this mean players can actually create their own landmass/zone? That might be worth checking out if nothing else. -Letting Derek Smart work on your game is like letting Osama bin Laden work in the White House. Something will burn.- |

It looks good, but if I know any Korean developer, it's gonna be heavily cash shop depenant or have a huge grind. OR they could completely blow my mind and make the game as amazing as it seems. |

If not a typical asian grindfest, worth a try. But if it's a grindfest, graphics and story can't change the endless boredom. I see challenge in missions, fighting, battles and not in getting my epic gear. ![]() |

I think it's unfair to compare a game to the books. They are two different mediums with vastly different requirements and levels of interaction. In a book, things happen the way the authors want them to happy. A game allows much more freedom. As great as the books are, they should be considered little more than a guideline to the game. Part of this reminds me of Minecraft except with better graphics. |

So it's gonna be kinda like Second Life? Kinda looks like it. Not sure if that's a good thing. |
