I remember when EA was the little guy fighting the evil companies of Activision and Atari.

They the ones that screwed with WestWood Studios and screwed C&C upside down.

But that's forgotten though , since Petroglyph (Ex Westwood members) are on the End of Nations MMO and I CANNOT wait any longer for it especially with Frank Klepacki performing the soundtracks for End Of Nations !!!

Safe to say the MANY reasons that have already been discussed.  The last Bioware game I played was DA:O and was abolustely DISGUSED they wanted me to pay to download some freaking content for the game I already bought.  this wasnt an extra module of a seperate adventure like NWN did, but was like some extra quest in the game I ALREADY bought.  No more EA/bioware for me and its been that way for years.

EA has buy a lot of game studios, then run these studios into the ground.   I think is the base. Then theres old wounds about DRM,  but people like Ubisoft with Yet Worse DRM has made these faux steps seems trivial. 

Mostly is kiling lots and lots and lots of good game studios. 

This pretty much nails it for me. After EA bought Mythic, they have drove that company into the ground harder than any company they have acquired (probably debatable) but still. Mythic had a great title under it's belt DAoC, and kind of flopped on Warhammer Online, but it was a lot of pressure on Mythic (EA bought Mythic right before the release of Warhammer, and put pressure on Mythic to release Warhammer early) from EA.

Not only that, they also buy up good companies (Westwood is a good example) and force them to make crappy copies of their older games slowly ruining them.

I started hating EQ when they bought Mythic and UO went to crap shortly after. Carebear land being one cause of the demise.

I find it funny how many people here "hate" E.A. . Oh No they love money ...no they are horrible because they make all these Movie games and they are greedy with all the DLC's and SIms Expans. Look They are a business and as a business with employees to pay and stock holders to keep happy they are doing what they need too ..MAKE MONEY. Believe me they dont care how you feel about them as long as they sell millions millions of games like they do. Stop hating so much and learn how capitialism works.

People don't hate capitalism.  They hate the lack of care for the products that resulted from the worst form of capitalism.

If EA were trying to be loved by all, they would ensure no game gets released with major bugs, stop buying out their competitors, and allow free DLC at launch.   Unfortunately, EA has shown they only care about the money part of their bottom-line.  They don't show care for the customers, or care for the society they are a part of.  There is nothing wrong with making money, but when your company's only goal is to make money, people will hate you.

Free markets were better before they were turned into an "-ism" word.

I would also like to point out that EVE Online has more subs than any wow-clone that these stockholders are pushing upon us.

Capitalism is simply an economic system.  Its when its mixed with something else, that the problems we've seen result.  In the case of the US thats fascism and socialism (in different parts of the markets).  Crony capitalism is another distortion thats seen a LOT of around the world.

 I have no problem at all with EA making a profit (which of course is the objective of business). I have a BIG problem with how they go about doing that.  I stated in several of my posts their past history, which is why so many people loath and despise them.
