Lol /a/ vs. /v/, Battle of Normandy reenactment. As fun as it seems at times, glad I rolled on another server, the amount of ganking on a server with two 300/300 zerg guilds would be scary.

Originally posted by rexzshadow That's really disappointing. What's the point of open world PvP then? Is it going to be a side show while you wait for the arena queue? I don't understand why everything needs to be fair. The unpredictability of open world fights are what makes it fun. "How should I know if it works? That's what beta testers are for. I only coded it." |

I was somewhat dissapointed with the lack of any kind of karma or flagging system. The only thing the outlaw system does is allow you to attack other players, which of course is very important in a non-tab targeting game where you would otherwise be hitting your team members constantly.
But when I was getting 3shotted by 27s and I would see them unflagged 30seconds later, I kinda missed the old Lineage2 system which let the community police itself.
EDIT: obvious bad spelling is obvious. Everything creates huge amounts of negativity on the internet, that's what the internet is for: Negativity, porn and lolcats. |

Originally posted by Majinash You can kill anyone you want. Just because someone unflagged after killing you doesn't mean you can't flag and go kill them right back. Also, this game is very much group based and encourages players to form groups for protection against being 3 shotted by a lvl 27. In my early 20's I fought 27's with pretty much the best gear you could get in beta and killed them because we had a group. The pvp in TERA is great and healing in pvp blows any other game out of the water.
Fun combat = Fun pvp. You can't complain about some uber powerful guy killing you while you are all alone because that isn't about pvp it's being ganked for your anti-social nature. Any serious pvp player already accepted that it can and will happen to them if they decide to roam the world alone, knowing there are stronger players out there than themself. |

Originally posted by Clocksimus The problem is I was 12. I was grouped with 2 other people, questing as a group, trying out the group gathering system ect. But 3 of us at level 12 stand zero chance against a single 27, worse that it was an archer. This will only get worse on release when you have max level people 1shotting lowbies.
Back at the quest hub even with just shy of 10 people all around level 10-14 we couldn't kill the 3 level 27s. Grouping will NEVER save you from being 3shotted. those 3 shots take less time than it takes for your group to discover that someone is attacking them, and the silly ramp up in power means that even with 20 level 10s, some single max level player will always be able to come and kill everyone, with zero chance to fight back.
You missed the entire point of my post which is that the game really doesn't promote any kind of policing of the community. The flagging system is only there to enable players to attack each other, while keeping people from accidently hitting other players when unflagged.
They call it "outlaw" status, but even NPCs don't seem to care when an "outlaw" runs right into their camp. Look at Lineage2. You could kill anyone you wanted in that game (even guildies if you wanted to) anywhere except major cities. The difference is they had a system which enabled other players to punish murderers without removing the FFA PVP enviorment.
Similar level PvP was exciting, though somewhat unbalanced. But the FFA world PvP I was was 90% griefing 10% decent PvP. Without something to encourage players to punish anti-social behavior like running around 1shotting people the ratio is going to stay that way. Everything creates huge amounts of negativity on the internet, that's what the internet is for: Negativity, porn and lolcats. |

Originally posted by dave6660 The main focus of action combat is for it to be more skilled based. Once you go above 10v10 all skill pretty much goes out the window. Zerging doesn't prove you to be the best. Doesn't stop you from having fun and showing off your deciated members in guild wars but its for fun. Maybe they could add in a wager system where people can bet on guild during war. |

When they implement the final KTERA PvP system I hope they leave out the debuff if there is no gain from kill trading.
Instead, if your flagged as am outlaw: 1. You stay an outlaw for 10 minutes after you toggle it off, persisting through log. 2. You can't channel switch as an outlaw 3. Guards will kill you Then leave it alone IMO. Just not worth my time anymore. |

I'd like to point out, people complaining about the excessive ganking, really, what do you expect?
It is a beta with a level cap you can reach in a day of hardcore playing, those hardcore players are going to be bored after they run the dungeon for a few hours and max their gear.
Then they will want to have some fun, I wouldn't expect it to be 1/4 as bad in the actual release because people will be occupied with other things, not to mention, with the larger side of the map opened up we won't have a full server in 1/3rd of the map lol. |

You'd be surprised how many "outlaws" flagged themselves and either ran to camps or channel switched on the run while people were attacking them lol.
I like the system other than the exploitable parts. I think it will make everyone happy. One smart move BH made was having PvE servers. Makes dealing with both factions a lot easier. Just not worth my time anymore. |

Originally posted by stayontarget Yep, just did. I had seen someone post something similar but not the same so I hadn't to this point. The more feedback they get though the better. Thanks and it's just about keeping people honest. As I stated above if you're going to flag yourself to gank don't run and channel switch when you're going down lol. Edit: I really, really wish I could edit my title on the EM site... at least I can edit the body now. Just not worth my time anymore. |

Originally posted by Deron_Barak It's a good list but I think it needs a fourth option: Party alliance for outlaw and non-outlaw groups. 4. Allow the group leader to alliance up to four other parties (5 max parties w/ 25 max players). Anything more than 25 people you might as well do GvG. And having too many players in one area tends to cause collision issues (mostly for melee classes) Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries... |
