So much backslash? Fact? Measured how? The "backslash" compared to satisfied customers(subscribers), is an insignificant drop in the bucket...no game is for everyone but revenue reports prove undeniably that there is a good chunk of people who like the game. Not making "WoW clones" would be highly unreasonable. |

Was going to say something along the same lines.
Waiting for them to be as good as an 8 year old game is only encouraging their oversight by giving them money. Triple A companies are banking off the idiocy of the "wait and see" approach because you're paying for that subscription while you're waiting for them to actually make a decent game out of their intial mess.
That's why I support b2p or f2p (if done right) models so much more.
p2p is so easily abused into having people stuck waiting for updates to actually occur. Like WoW expansions. They don't unlock everything right away to keep you subscribed longer before you finish the content and move on.

Originally posted by Ztekan For at least the tenth time, I was in WoW at launch, it didn't have 'so many bugs' and it didn't 'crash all the time'. a FEW servers crashed a lot. I think I got like 10 days credit and that was just because everyone got that, I was hardly affected on a very populated Argent Dawn (main RP server for Vanilla WoW). WoW wasn't old and intolerable after two weeks, SWTOR is. WoW is still essentially WoW 1-60, which is where it's drew most it's subs. Cataclysm is the biggest change to that. SWTOR can't survive 8 years with it's 1-XX game in it's current condition. |

Originally posted by killion81 Wow is a good game. If swtor ends up failing do to all the hate mongering I will have play again. I didn't buy 2x580 nvidia card to play an 8 yr. old graphics engine. |

A large portion of that revenue is from initial sale of the game. So of course it's going to reflect positively for now. IF revenue continues to do good after awhile via subscriptions then it could be said they're doing ok. But as it is now it's too soon to claim that the game is doing good on revenue alone. There is a decline in sales, and subscriptions. Just have to see how much momentum both get.

still comparing a game that launched in 2012 to a game that launched when dialup was still the norm. Sad |

I was talking more in general but can be applied to SWTOR as well. There are way more successful "WoW clones" than "non-clones". Proof is in the pudding but people like to keep their eyes shut... |

Originally posted by adam_nox Yes and no it won't stay in current condition. SWTOR is Biwoare's flagship MMO, you think they will just leave it in its current state and move on? SWTOR being intolerable is matter of opinion, i am sure many are enjoying the game and also there were like me who got bored of WOW after one month of release. And yes WOW did crash and a lot of people had serious troubles logging in. If you were REALLY at launch you would know that Blizzard compensated a large chunk of players for losing play time and yes i was one of those players. i and my guildies couldn't log in to WOW for 5 days straight because of regular crashes. |

Yes, Bioware is delusional. They're also the most over rated developer in the industry; arrogant and drunk on undeserved past successes. Every game they have released has been worse than the last, with swtor taking the steaming dung cake. However, in regards to the OP's quotation specifically, I honestly don't think they're delusional about their game being a true living, breathing world. Previous comments from them reveal that. So that really makes them not just delusional but deceitful liars full on marketing hype as well. |

Originally posted by thekid1 It's because they fell for the hype and the BioWare line, they parted with their cash lmfao. They accused anyone who didn't bend over for bioware as being trolls, even people who had played the game. Bioware played them for suckers and they swalloed the whole 'we have voices' bull crap, some even bought the CE box lmfao again. Anyone with any MMO sence and played the beta weekends could see what BioWare were offering up with their micky mouse mmo. How could anyone in their right mind think that BioWare were going to make a living breathing non linear MMO is beyond me,just look at the games they release, freaking boxes. They are angry because they feel stupid.

Your own standards of what is "dead" or "successful" is very much irrelevant. Games like LOTRO, AoC, WAR or RIFT are still profitable, worth investment business. Therefore more games like those will be made, you like it or not - but that's what bears keeping your eyes shut. |
