[Mod Edit]
Anyhow, I think that GW2 is looking like a great game, and there are other great games coming down the pipe. So what other games do you think are kicking it up a notch and going to be great? And don't forget to give them some good hype if you haven't already!

I think the mod edit obliterated the point of this thread. |

ArcheAge, I am really, really, looking forward to this game! It has so many features I think I'll be frazzled the first weeks trying to figure out which way to go and what to explore, what to do...I cannot wait! ![]() |

Looking at Secret World along with GW2.
I wouldn't call the roll up to GW2 as "hype" simply because we have a previous known gaming experience with GW. I'm taking a shot of vodka every time I see a reference to a game being a WoW or Diablo clone. |

I'm not 'hyped' about any game ;) I am buying GW2 on day one though. Hype is what ToR's marketing was, misleading marketing creating unfair expectations to drive sales. GW2 hasn't had any 'hype' from the media or Arenanet, as so far the only things announced have been accurate. As long as you have basic reading comprehension and common sense, you aren't 'hyped' for GW2, but you can be informed and looking forward to it. Not to say people aren't 'hyped' about GW2. Some people have weird ideas about what a game can do, not the mention what THEY can do. For example, the first time some of the starry eyed hyped up newbies who dream of them lording it over the masses in WvW, being the hero of the land, get smacked down by a large group in WvW i guarentee their illusion will shatter (doubly so if they're a mesmer at the time!) :p |

Played TSW, like what I played, and never got to try a Sandbox out so I also like ArchAge approach at things as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ns-IIn-DG-c Try to argue this please. Oh also if you quote me and it's to argue my point, if I don't respond it means I haven't been corrected by you and/or I haven't seen it. Remember I don't mind admitting I am in the wrong. Take care :D |

There are other mmos who can potentially be as much great as GW2 can be. Where to start, you have Archage, PlanetSide 2, The Secret World......Wildstar looks interesting. Everybody was hyped about SWTOR before it came out and dont get me wrong, it is not a bad game, but the game is average at best, nothing special. Level of hype it received is on opposite side from the game quality. So, dont believe the hype. |

You didn't include Firefall which shows huge potential. My list, (after GW2) would be, in order of hype: 1) Firefall 2) ArcheAge 3) TSW I plan to at least give a fighting chance to all 3, in their order of appearance. (Sorry for not including Planetside2 on the list, but i feel the stink there.. SOE is involved and the... exuberance is missing from it. This somehing that above games and GW2 have. When you compare footage from FF and PS2 you'll see what I mean. Pretty much the same difference as with GW2 and SWTOR. There is a lack of... richness) |

Originally posted by Nimar More importantly, don't take the opinions of others as gospel. I've played GW2 and know it's going to be THE game of 2012 for me if the rest of the game is half as good as what i played :) But until you get to play it for yourself, you can't say with 100% certainty if you'll like it as much as i did. But you all know what you like and you're all grown up and intelligent enough (i hope) to see something and say whether or not it's a game you'd enjoy. Just make sure to actually read what Arenanet have written about their systems. They've done a LOT of very detailed in depth blogs. There's also a LOT of pure gameplay videos. There's far too much content out there to be 'overhyped' for GW2. If you don't know what to expect in the full game with THAT much content around, then i don't know what i can say to you. Pretty much every single mechanic has been shown in a video somewhere at this point. If ToR had this much raw information available about the game before release, it would never have been so hyped. By the time the true WoW clone nature became apparent, the hype train was 'past the point of no return' and the fanboys had turned feral (not to mention they are star wars fanboys, which are some of the worst fanboys around). In GW2 since we simply don't have a release date the fanboys have never had a chance to get 'uber hyped', so everyone has been able to get a more realistic look at what GW2 entails.
In a nutshell: There's enough information out there to know for sure if GW2 is a game you'll enjoy or not. |

Originally posted by ComfyChair GW2 is going to be a great mmo. Like you said, it got tons of material and informations to back that up. And few other mmos can be also great. I was just cautious because until now most of mmos have been disappointment. |

Nothing else about GW2, gotta keep my energy only for GW2, for I would get too tired for other games to hype over. So, I voted other. Thats my reason why |

Its the actuall art work that makes the game look detailed, diverse with some breathtaking scenery..
My only grime with the graphics is the spell effects, they are obviously overdone, but their world design and the fluent character annimations are top of the world. Next to that all this beauty doesn't hog to much resources. They are walking the same graphics road as WoW did, only wuth 10 years moderner graphics. Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) |

All the rest? minimum. I've also seen the game first hand. It looks miles better than ToR and definitely better than Rift ;) Both of those games were even in the same convention so it's not like it was a long time between me seeing them all to compare (plus i've obviously played Rift and ToR myself, Rift only in the beta though, way back). I just remember me and my friends walking around after the 3-4 hours it took for us all to play GW2, looking at Rift and talking about how bad we felt for Trion. There was about 1/10th of the people around the Rift booths and you could see why. |

I'm looking forward to all those games except Wildstar (which looks a bit too generic for me) except I fear I won't get a chance to play them anytime soon because I'll be too busy with Guild Wars 2. |

if you are hyped .. you have been marketed. these games dont deserve the hype you give them. they never have and they never will. LFD tools are great for cramming people into content, but quality > quantity. |
