Well, I ahve to admit this is some pretty well writen excitment and hype there. Heh I intend on playing GW2 allong with my friends and guildies. But I am not getting Hyped untill I see and experience it on my own. This industry has alienated most players i know and the disapontement meter is about to break. Still..nice energy and excitment OP!
PS: LOL on the teletubbie pics, makes me want to play Asura...lol. |

I guess its all in the eye of the beholder. For Guild Wars 2, if i can get an Top Hat skin on my Helmet just because I want to have a Top Hat i will buy it. And with their Transmutation Technique, its very easy to transmute the stats of my Helmet onto my Top Hat. With that said, I don't know whats in the Cash Shop, but I do know that they don't do Pay to wins, especially when its ArenaNet. Originally posted by Lucioon I'm not sure about that. I think clothing like top hats count as town clothes, meaning they aren't allowed to have stats. I'm not sure about the whole deal, but I've never heard of being able to wear those kinds of wardrobe items into battle. Thank God for that. no GW2 won't kill WoW, but it's time to move on and quit worrying about those people still playing it. - eyelolled |

In TF2, people tend to think highly of people who have wonderful and exotic hats. The hats have no stats, and obtaining them shows no measure of skill, yet people look upon them fondly. However, if someone inspects your hat and sees that it is store-bought, all of that goes out the window. You're immediately judged for having purchased your hat outright instead of "earning" it. The selling prices for store-bought hats is considerably lower than hats that dropped or were crafted. In GW2, if the only way to get a top hat is to pay money for it, people are not going to look at your top hat as a sign of achievement. The only reason you will want to wear one is because you personally like the way it looks. It will never be a sign of status. I'm tired of themepark MMOs and instances. GW2 will probably be good at what it aims to be, e-sport, but that's not the MMO I'm eager to play right now. I want to build and defend keeps but not in an instanced WvW zones. I like the sound of DEs but not really excited about non open world. Such worlds are always segregated into noob-medium-hard zones and even level scaling won't make noob zones interesting for too long once you're done with them. I'm defently not interested in having PvP matches in MMOs. I see GW2 turning into a PvP lobby game some months after release. Props to Anet for an effort to make questing more interesting with DEs but its still just a road to 50 after which you're stuck with instanced PvP/WvW. |

People who don't find MMO's, fantasy or RPG combat won't be that interested in GW2. Which rules out one person in my friends list so far out of about 30 people :D |

As someone who isn't burned out on the "WoW-Clones" Why would I want to play GW2 as a main MMO like I did WoW, EQII or TOR?
GW2 looks like a great game for when Im bored with other things but I don't see myself playing it as much as I did the games mentioned. |

Because it will take skill and talent, and you know without their season 27 gear well some people can't PvP well while others will be lost by the teamwork concept just saying...... |

Start worrying about other players in a game and dont just play |

I say there is nor reason not to get it. Its Buy to play.. Also to the OP most of your friends will pick it up as soon as the Buzz starts. If the game is good people will BUY it. If its crap people will not... And most people dont even know what they want. They listen to others and do what they say. so if GW2 sells 1m copies world wide and 800k people are happy with the product. The buzz will start. And then Avrage JOE will also buy it. Because he Buyes all his other stuff because others tell him 2. People buy ROLEX watches, designer suties and gucci bags.. Does that watch tell the time better then a 10 dollar watch? no. Will you be warmer in the designer suit? no.. Will that gucci bag hold more stuff then an ordinary bag? NO People buy stuff because of what others think. And If everyone is saying GW2 is were the fun is, they will play it and have fun. Not because of the game but because others told them it was fun. Most games are FUN. There really arn't so many BORING MMOS. But depending on what the GENERAL PUBLIC thinks is the "COOLEST FLAVOR THIS MONTH" people BUY.. its a sad fact but its true.. You can design the best dam game in the world and people will never play it UNLESS IT has the "IT" factor amongst thier PEERS... GW2 dosent have the "IT" factor among the less informed avrage joes JET.. But when it dose they will buy it.. Now all we have to do is wait around and see if it gets it or not... |

Easy Answer to the thread title. 1) I played Guild wars 1 2) Its an action MMO 3) No depth 4) Tab Target MMO 5) Im an adult
All of the above explain why i will not play GW2, i bought into the hype of GW1 and was overly dissapointed, great game for kids though as i remember 90% of the community being under the age of 18, and the no monthly makes it even better for parents. But GW2 isnt my type of MMO, really not what i look for im more of a sandbox gamer. But have fun with it. |

No not the just the 50. It takes some thinking but do not worry about it but it's very telling.

I think ur wrong salenger, this guildwars 2 will have nothing to do with the 1st one, i also didn´t like much the 1st one it was based on pvp and not on the pve and it was not fun at all like most mmorpgs, but this one it will be a great game, from what i saw in movies you just have to try it.

Originally posted by Ishoa Stuff To answer the OP, there are a variety of reasons why someone might not want to play GW2: 1) Maybe they enjoy games that have more endgame content aside from PvP. 8 Dungeons (despite AN's claim that there are 4 versions of each...yeah right) at endgame and no raiding might not appeal to people. 2) Maybe people still enjoy the Holy Trinity concept because they enjoy excelling at a specialized role within the group dynamic instead of the "everyone can do everything" approach. 3) Maybe they enjoy playing games where gear actually matters, and is visible proof of the time you put into a game, kind of like a badge of honor. 4) Maybe they aren't impressed with the very limited class customization system that GW2 presents, and like more choices in speccing their character and deciding what skills they can use at any different time. 5) Maybe they can't understand how a newly released MMO can actually not have mounts as part of the game. 6) Maybe they enjoy a robust crafting system, which GW2 certainly does not have. 7) Maybe all the ridiculous particle effects during combat that muddies up the action is a turn-off for them. 8) Maybe they don't like the fact that the UI won't be customizable. 9) Maybe the idea that you can switch weapons in mid-fight seems kind of immersion-breaking to them. 10) Maybe they weren't impressed with ArenaNet's first offering and don't trust them to put out a quality product.
I'm not saying everyone is going to have all 10 of these reasons on their list, or even that all of them are valid reasons to at least not try the game out, but not everyone thinks the sun rises and sets on ArenaNet or GW2. Believe it or not, there are people that may have different tastes in games, OP. |
