You are defining dying as literally ceasing to exist, which is totally reasonable. Even Warhammer Online still exists and that is about as dead as a game can get without actually shutting down. |

It'll be fine. It'll go F2P towards the end of this year, get itself a nice audience and settle down as one of the 'normal' MMO's. |

I really dont want to see this game Go, it has alot of potential still. i just hope if things get worst they go with a new model instead of just pulling the plug. Because i can. |

Originally posted by EduardoASG This is a ridiculous statement. We have had a handful of games shutdown in the past few years and you are calling ToR a definite shutdown?! ToR is currently one of the most polished mmo's on the market with healthy subscription numbers. If alganon hasn't shut down, all mmo's have a chance to live forever.

Originally posted by Alders Nope, not weird. You just don't suffer from the same level of ADD as some of your gamer brethren. A game that doesn't command a player's attention is mediocre at best. I suppose a lot of gamers are satisfied with mediocre. It explains how craptastic games like (fill in the blank) continue to limp along perpetually. |

One full server tonight at primetime, no very heavys and about 18 heavy a month ago there were 20+ full with Queues but people are just in denial, losing subs and bleeding very badly, dying not yet. On the F2P sorry EA won't ever go F2P especially with a title that is a little over 2 motnhs old.

I just resubbed, rolled a Republic toon, and my guild (part of a milti-game community) had 16 people on when I just logged out. There were around 10 or so on our Empire side on at the same time. Running around the starter zone for Republic, I saw groups of 3 or 4 running around. Doesn't seem like it's dying from my (very limited) perspective. |

Game is far to be dying. Just plenty of trolls.
It's like the people calling WoW dead when it's still the most popular MMORPG and will stay there for a long time. |

im not trolling when i say this, but really the only thing SWTOR can contend with is WoW. for all the other catagories for games, SWTOR gets killed. SWTOR is a traditional MMO. they have a casual gamer crowd. Because i can. |

That being said no it wont Die. this game wont, i find it hard to believe that it will get the plug pulled on it when worse games are still running. its far more likely to go B2P after a year though. Because i can. |

I was just playing with some friends before popping over here. Server was hevy and there was nearly 170 in the republic fleet when we went there to do FPs. Went to Coruscant and there were 120 folks there. I can't believe I am so lucky to be on the only heavily populated server left. Oh wait, that is the PVE server I am on (The Shadowlands). I am also on the PVP server (The Maw) and it was heavy too with 140 some in the Imperial fleet zone and well over 100 on Dromund Kaas (earlier this afternoon). It is not dying, though like all MMOs there is a bit of a decline after launch that will pick up again with content updates, xpacs, and releases in new regions. IT will be fine and the sky is not falling. |

Originally posted by Requiem6 It's funny when people claim WoW is dead when it sheds 500k subs or so :p I mean, they've only got 10m+ subs! they're limping! Which automatically would make that fanboy's favourite MMO a rotting corpse i'd assume, no matter which one it is. |

I see a couple of people under the impression that EA/Bio is doing things now to keep investors (such as not merging servers, etc). They don't need investors anymore. The development is done. The game is out. Now if you are talking shareholders, that's a different case. EA is a publicly traded company, and as such they are bound to "maximize shareholder profit", but that isn't quite the same as seeking to procure capitol or refund capitol expenditure. Sure, developing new content takes money, but hardly on the order of the initial push. If all you need to do is keep the servers running, that cost is extremely low compared to the price of the initial development (Look at Vanguard, for instance). It doesn't take millions, or even thousands, or paying players if all you are aiming to do is to keep the lights on. Sure, a franchise game has to license the IP, and Bioware licensed the engine, but even those costs aren't staggering - look how long Sony kept the IP on SWG and it certainly didn't have "Millions" playing. So death, as in the game folds up and blows away (ala SWG) - there is almost 0 chance of that happening until the IP contract with LA is up (and that was probably a 5+ year contract, similar to what SOE had). Just to maintain the game will not take a lot of subscribers, especially once the initial investment is paid back. Now, if by death you just mean "not fun any more" - well, that may have already happened for a lot of people. A high population can swing both ways - some people like having lots of random people around to make the world a more lively place, other players could give a damn less so long as their close-knit circle of friends are playing. |

If you see no good or you see no bad in a game, chances are you are bias. |

Of course not, it would need to fail horibly for that. Its meh enough to keep people drawn in with the cheap method of lightsabers being its tool, but who knows how long that might last. I doubt it will die though, just expect the population to drop off pretty harshly compared to some other games. |
