A sword is never a killer, it is a tool in the killer's hands. |

You can't limit yourself to single role without severely reducing your effectiveness. You can be more of a supporter than the guy next to you, but you can't be doing only support stuff, nor can you eliminate the need for other players to heal themselves. Same goes for tanking (control). |

Originally posted by Xzen You'd be surprised how many people (at least until recently) seriously believe that GW2 has dedicated roles in the "and I heal, and I heal, and I heal" sense. After following the game for almost 3 years it has gotten to be a pet peeve of mine. Anyway, back on topic: If you like keeping bars filled and doing nothing but healing then yes, avoid the game. If you like supporting your teamates through a multitude of ways while not being restricted to one role only then this is the game for you. |

Originally posted by fundayz My only point is that if you like to heal the group this game has it. It's just going to take some learning because it's not cut and pasted from the typical mmo. You better learn how to use dodge and support and use other skills that will be available to you at the same time. |

Originally posted by Monorojo No really, I was a resto druid on WoW, but the problem with others MMO's is that if you are the healer or dps or tank thats the only thing you can do because of your gear bonuses, in gw2 you can heal allies but you are not a dedicated healer, is just diferent... |

Everyone is not the same thing, but no there are indeed no dedicated healers or tanks. If you enjoy keeping other players alive, you can certainly do so by having a defensive build which could include blocking projectiles, debuffing enemies, buffing allies, snaring enemies, other crowd control such as stuns / polymorphs, countering attacks, making them go invisible and providing light heals. Which will mean nothing if the whole group isnt working as a team. Not being a 'healer' or 'tank' doesnt mean that you are just 'DPS'. If you just want to look at someone elses health bar and spam heal buttons like in other games, then you are out of luck. You should go look up the skills on the GW2 Wiki to see the diversity on offer. Its a new breed of MMO where the name of the game is teamwork and synergy, not just sticking to your designated role and not caring about what else is going on around you. |
