I have lurked around the Mortal forums for awhile, And after playing Darkfall for a few months and getting burnt out on the grind then moving to SWTOR  and burning through content, I finally decided to give Mortal a shot.

First off the Graphics are horrible reguardless of what settings you have them set to, and to be honest I could get over that if the game play was at least decent. The UI is horrible!!!!! not even remotely intuitive. I know its unfair to judge a game so quickly but Holy &^$% this is bad. I never even really got to game play because I couldn't get over how bad everthing else looks.

Darkfall has its issues but it is leaps and bound ahead of this game.

Guess I will have to continue holding my breath waiting for a decently made sandbox.

To each their own I guess. I decided 2 weeks ago with my brother to download MO again ( i was in BETA) just to laugh since it was shitty as hell during the beta. We started and i cant stop playing, i just brough 5 new RL friends into the game today. 

I rerolled my fighting character since I just noticed It was gimped for pvp, and IT IS slow at the beginning, you just need to give it a shot.

Like ive said, i cant stop playing, i just bough 2 accounts and im also currently playing swtor.

Yeah MO surely kicks ya in the balls right at the begining... Graphics are not so bad but the world feels empty... everything burned down and destroyed, everyones dirty and theres filth everywhere... The first couple of days is just grind grind grind in your chosen city and trading your wood and ore for some skillbooks.

Id LOVE to have like SINGLE PLAYER TUTORIAL on this game:P

well ive learned it the hard way... then i realised you need to buy an retail and then sub - its not a problem for me but - for a product of this quality (its hardly a beta) they should drop sub to around 5$ or so... Just say'in

It was a broken beta game, now it is just a good game needin a lot of work.

I'd say try it again after the UI-overhaul that comes with awakening, that's my plan at least

You must have your settings on low. Because if you played darkfall, there is no way in hell you can say MO graphics are bad. I don't even like Mortal Online. But to say it had bad graphics AFTER you came from darkfall tells me you never played MO. Completly ridiculous, I don't care if darkfall was the best game ever, I uninstalled it after 10 min of trial because of how aweful the graphics were. I even ran CCleaner to get any reniments of that crap off my computer. MO has pretty decent graphics, just horribly written with memory leaks etc.

What OP and what friend? Did you read the OP?

I'll bite I guess.  If the terrain and sky were the only thing that had to do with graphics... I'd say MO has DF beat.  The problem is that there are many other things to consider when talking about a graphics engine.  The buildings, cities, objects within the game look as if they were just thrown down.  Going into a city, nothing looks as if it's actually meant to be there.  There's little to no artistic talent with their design team in my opinion.  I've seen better world design with NWN player servers.  Characters glide, twitch, and warp all over the screen at times.  The animations are some of the worst in modern MMO's.  The prediction is still horrendous in my opinion.  There are still flying pigs.  There are cheaters everywhere, and the GM's aren't much better.  The UI, which is part of the graphics system, is also poorly done and incomplete in some areas.  It's horribly unfriendly to new players.  Well, I'm getting off topic.. so I'll stop.  When using an engine that TERA uses, you should get TERA like graphics out of it.  Problem here is, they have a bunch of 12 yr old kids designing their world and UI.  Or, at least that level of talent.

Most of what I said has something to do with the graphics though, as terrain and sky, quite obviously, does not tell the entire story.

Not sure I can agree. I am almost inclined to say that I like DF visuals more because they got a certain style while MO just seems to try and mash together as realistic looking model as possible. Animations are horrible in DF, but they are hardly much better in MO.

Of coruse people should try the trial and that goes for any mmo before subbing.

dont get me wrong i do like mo and look forward to awakening myself. Im currently unsubbed but will try the new expansion out. But MO has issues and people have a right to be a little wary dependant on their previous mmo experience. But MO has alot to offer still if its your sort of game and the trial is perfect for finding that out.

I loved the UO Skill progression system but thats it thats all...op pretty much touched on all my dislikes but the combat system.
