I think the ability for players to create their own content in EQ2 has been under emphasized. I am going to try and remedy that here. Player Housing. Most people know that EQ2 has a great housing system that allows for great immaginative decorating and that you can list your finished house in the rating system for others to tour and rate your home. What most people don't know is that you can build structures from scratch. Here is an example; This is the Tenebrous Tangle Island home, which is essentially a "blank slate" to work on.
Here is what somene has built upon it;
There are many examples of other player creations on each server. The building materials can be crafted by players. The interiors can then be furnished with either player made items and quest rewards, etc. Player made books Blank tomes are crafted by players and anyone can use them to create, publish and sell their own original works. They can be copied as many times as you like, so you can "mass produce" finished works if you wish.
You can even author them in your character native language if you want only those of who share the knowledge of you tongue to be able to read it.
You can then use the books to decorate you home, etc.
Dungeon Maker This system is still in its infancy, however, it basically works similarly to the housing system in that you pick a floor plan, decorate it, populate it with NPC spawners and then publish it for other to run through. Right now, you run through player made dungeons with premade toons instead of your own characters, however you do earn XP for your actual Character. The ability to run these player made dungeons WITH your own Character is in the works.
In conclusion Using your imagination, you can see how you could easily create you own storyline tieing these systems together. I have already seen people placing player written books in homes as clue to solving riddles and even puzzles in their homes. Each Character has a Biography section in their character window where you can tie into other alts storylines etc. So, basically another player could start your created storyline by just randomly examining your toon. |

Wow, I did not know any of that was possible. Just started to dabble in EQ2, not my main game yet though, so not much exposure to it. Thanks Every MMORPG is AWESOME, until it's released! |

Developers forgot what made mmos special. Until we get that back the genre wont move forward. |

Very nice indeed. Everquest 2 is my 2nd favorite mmo. Very under rated.

EQ2, as a game, is very underrated, under-advertised, and under-appreciated. Most people that have a problem with EQ2, at least it always sounds like to me, have a problem with SoE more than EQ2 itself. I played EQ2 for 7 years. I just recently left it before SWTOR came out, offering me a change of pace. No, SWTOR doesn't offer near what EQ2 did, but I was wanting to hear a new story, basically, so for NOW....I'm in SWTOR, but returning to EQ2 isn't out of the question for me, that's for sure. I'm only waiting to see if TSW or GW2 is going to absorb my time preventing me from a return to EQ2. I expect SWTOR will be over for me once both my Imperial and Republic characters have each reached max level. Good to see EQ2 continue, as always, to add new intriguing things. :) Outside of UO, EQ2 has been my favorite MMO, and I've played a lot of them. I think they all cater to certain personalities and some people will like some MMOs and some will like others. EQ2 is just "my cup of tea," actually, but even at that....sometimes you need a break and a different flavor. President of The Marvelously Meowhead Fan Club |

Does EQ2 have rare spawn mobs and mobs that drop unique loot to that type of mob? Something that I really enjoyed with EQ1. I've tried EQ2 a few times but the solo challenge seemed a bit too light. Are there areas with elite type mobs that drop better loot and offer some form of a solo challenge? Looking for something with depth after I finish with SWTOR. |

My free month of SWTOR ends in a few days. I've been debating over paying for a 2nd month or picking up EQ2 again since I've heard its F2P now. SWTOR has its flaws, but its by no means a terrible game. Not something I can see myself spending a long time playing, but I'm only in my 30's on my Bounty Hunter, I finally found a customizable outfit that doesn't make me look like a tool, and would kind of like to at least reach 50 on one character, but its been so long since I've played an Iksar anything. |

Originally posted by Mardukk Yes! Every zone pretty much has elite "Named" mobs that usually drop Legendary or Fabled loot.
Grubdigger has a chance to drop this Now that EQ2 has a Mercenary system, you can also solo dungeons that are "green" to your level. I soloed "The Estate Of Unrest" last night using my hired mercenary NPC to assist me. This is just one piece of loot that dropped.

When my interest in my current game (SWTOR) fades, EQ2 is at the top of the list.
Wait a second... is this a POSITIVE thread ... on MMORPG.COM? Can it be? Better get a screen shot! :-) Thanks for showing off some EQ2 Goodies Every MMORPG is AWESOME, until it's released! |

Originally posted by Mardukk One of the issues with soloing in eq2 (and it is VERY easy sadly) is that the AA system came out after 2 expansions, and you start earning them at level 10, not max level. You increase in power to well above what the game was designed for.
But in a game with as much content as eq2, you can create your own challenge. Try soloing dungeons. There is a very large assortment of dungeons in eq2 of various sizes and types, some instanced some contested. Yoll fin challenge in there. Also, you can always skip ahead a little and do zones at slightly above your level (of course quest mechanics prevent you going too far above) |

Any suggestions on server choice? I hear Freeport is a good one? I'm on east coast time, if that matters. Every MMORPG is AWESOME, until it's released! |

Originally posted by GetzMango Antonia Bayle is very popular. I have also heard that Freeport is the hot server right now. There is one PvP server - Nagafen. |

^ what he said
Freeport is also the youngest server, so its not as top heavy but if you want a popular server with a better variety of raiding guilds -- go AB EQNext press http://EQ3Wire.com EQ2: Freeport server |

Originally posted by eagle4x4 The Estate of Unrest IMO completely blows away any instance youll find in Rift or WoW. Try to do it without a walkthrough, I dare you. Its almost like crossing MMORPG with one of those old school adventure games like maniac mansion/day of the tentacle.
I wish the game had more like it (Nektropos is another example), but there is just so much variety in EQ2 |

Originally posted by teakbois LOL, I did have to use a walkthrough. I had to dual box it as well because of a couple of mechanics that take two people to do. It was a freaking blast. |

I am bumping this because I still hear from a lot of people that have no idea about the housing customizations. |
