I mean where is the multiplayer component, and the linear paths and instances takes away from the depth of it as an mmo. After so many failed MMO's warhammer, aion, etc. and now SWOTR I subbed back to World of warcraft. I just couldn't take it anymore and i have to say despite the next expansion unless something awesome comes out soon I will continue to sub to World of Warcraft!! The game is open to explore and feels more multiplayer than anything else out here.

Everything you described is your own fault, not the game. I'm surprised WoW would be any different, because both games are very similar.

Except that Wow has a better engine and actually works and even though the style is similar Wow is still light years of SWTOR and I highly doubt that SWTOR will survive that long to catch up.

Yes, but he didn't say anything about that part. He compained about the multiplayer/social aspects, linear paths and instances. All of which is no different than WoW (aside from linearity, WoW has SWTOR beat hands down there). I am also gonna have to disagree about the mechanics being much better, 'cause they're pretty much the same, and the combat in WoW is gonna be hard to go back to with only one or two animations for skills.

I found more of a reason to group in SWTOR leading up to level 50 than I've ever felt the need to in WoW since vanilla, because there are quite a few instances as well as heroic areas/quests on every planet. The end-game for both are no different, aside from WoW having a bit more variety.

In the end, it's all preference, but the OP's points made are generally not the fault of the game.

It is funny because I was very much like the OP, played during launch and early acess, got to 50 and then got bored.

So i went back to WoW....guess what? Couldnt last a week until i went back to SWTOR. WoW is just so bland, old, and generic in comparison. I have a 85 priest and literally everyone in my guild sits in ORG waiting for queues to pop, whether it be PvP or dungeon finder. It s really sad and depressing, and I just wouldnt imagine grinding through the same dungeons over and over again and calling that fun.

So we will see OP if you return back to SWTOR after realizing WoW is even worse in comparison.

Sooo, what do you do that is exactly different from WoW in SWTOR? Start a ruckus in the opposing factions towns & cities? Do actual crafting? Get achievements?

What is different from WoW @ 85 and SWTOR @50?

yeah the game really is a single player mmorpg. there is absolutely no reason to group in this game because the dungeons are extremely lame. the pvp is recycled (minus huttball, the games best feature imo).

Had fun on my free month, hit lvl 42

Came home one day and my gf asks you going to play swtor...i was like oh yeah i forgot i owned that lol. never logged in again. never will. its so linear it might as well be a movie you watch with a mouse in ur hand spam clicking.

Yep.  The game made me appreciate WoW more, even with the lame cash shop creations and cluttered end game theme park.  No medieval mmorpgs out there with this much to do so :/

WoW is certainly not a medieval mmorpg.

It's funny you said that, I thought I was the only one.

In fact it was 7 months since I unsubscribed from WoW, it took me a month of Swotor to relight my cravings for a good Themepark MMO, so I subscribed again to WoW for a whole year (and got Diablo 3 for free as a bonus).

I strongly believe that developers still don't get it.

WoW is still the best Themepark around and it has 6 years content, which is a detail many seems to ignore.

I hope developers finally understand that people do not want WoW 2 but something different, since WoW is still good enough that players do not need a replacement yet.

And I strongly believe that people like you still don't get it that WoW is only good enough for certain people. I unsubbed from WoW a long time ago, and while SWTOR is far from perfect, in my opinion it is way more enjoyable than WoW.

So perhaps you don't need a replacement. Enjoy your WoW time. But you're only fooling yourself if you think  "people are going back to WoW after playing SWTOR" is a universal truth.

In my case, I'm done with WoW for good. And even if Blizzard offered me to pay me to go back, I'd still say no, thanks.

Of all things...

WoW nowadays also feel like co-op / single game.

LFG ,teleports, phasing, 98% of gameplay tunneled into instances.

Unless you play on some vanilla private server then I don't see how it can feel like world anymore lol

WoW is empty husk and it's bad clone of early WoW itself

Yeah, unfortunately the biggest problem in AoC is the lack of people playing.

It really underscores the point that you have to have a good launch, first impressions mean everything nowadays.

True, but it still surprised me, considering the F2P part and how much content there is in AOC now.

i quit swtor for minecraft, been playing some tera on the side but am saving it for launch. After playing bits of tera i logged back into wow and logged back out again after 15min. To many bad feelings from what the game once was, what the comunity once was. While i would still consider wow a good game for a first time user, its not what it use to be and therefor not for me.

Funnily enough the first thing I noticed playing AoC this week was the amount of chat in Global, there were people talking all the time. I'm on Crom btw, an EU server, and there were plenty of people in the starter area (Tortage) as well.

Compared with global chat in ToR it was buzzing. On the Republic side on most planets in the mid-range in ToR chat is pretty dead, this was on Hidden Beeks server. After playing through Alderaan without seeing another person it was nice to actually see real players running around again.

Yeah I think the voice overs in SWTOR kind of prohibit a lot of the chat that you see in other mmos. Also there are no global channels in SWTOR. In AoC, as an example, the chat is all global (except for the specific region channel of course).

Honestly I just started playing because D3 was delayed, and i must say, this is the first mmorpg in like the last 8 games I've played that i thoroughly enjoy and like logging back in.

Rift was dull, WAR was dull, and I couldn't stand playing SWTOR anymore so I actually did go back to WoW.  Sad... (for me).  I just need something to distract me for a little bit longer.

it's all about semantics. I really don't care what people choose to play, or not play, choice is great and enjoyment is subjective.

I think it's fairly obvious, to everyone besides you, that you don't like the fact that he doesn't like something that you like. If i'm off on that assertion, then I apologize. But reading his OP and then your subsequent reaction, screams that to me. The title of the thread is evidence of what will be contained within, yet you still chose to open the topic and check it out? Then you get into some sort of 'psycho analysis' based on semantics? I don't know, I guess i'm just of the opinion that if the guy wants to play WoW rather than SWTOR, more power to him. What does it matter anyway?

The more of these posts I read, and then the replies of rabid SWTOR fans that seem to severely overreact to them, lead me to believe that alot of these 'rabid fans' are seeing the writing on the wall but don't want to accept it. If this doesn't apply to you, then disregard, but I have a strong feeling that's what it is about in alot of the nastier replies.

I´m glad i had that moment way earlier then the Thead Opener. I hadnt touched wow since BC but because every single mmorpg has disapointed me i re subed to wow in September2011. It was fun leveling a toon again up but as soon end game content started i was heavy disapointed content was to easy, most things the same and everyone idle in org. So i quited and im for now done with wow like mmorpgs. TERA actutally feels like some new fresh breat of air with his unique combat for me.
