Game of Thrones MMO? No frigging way! Just when your character starts to get interesting it'd be killed off forever |

But feel free to believe that a game about massive timesinks around travel would be enjoyable to normal players, I guess. |

Originally posted by DJJazzy I actually think ASoIaF (game of thrones) would work well as a Europa Universalis style strategy game. Where you control nations and dynasties. Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob? |

GoT is perfect with the new Crusader Kings 2 game (where anyone in your realm can plot against you, including murdering you or a member of your family or even try to steal your crown or declare indepedence) "Some of the less objective people tend to be close-minded though and basically disregard any possible shortcomings that gw2 could have." |

Originally posted by Creslin321 I could see that, but not as an mmo or even an rpg. Another series that I love and that people mention wanted to see as an MMO, Dune, wouldn't work well either I think. For similar reasons I think. |

Comaf, You started out well, but you lost all credibility --- at least in my eyes -- when you called "X-Men: First Class" epic; that is also where I stopped reading! -- |

While I've always liked the idea, the thought of an ASoIaF mmo, I have to agree with comments here that it would most likely be disappointing. Maybe this coming HBO/Cyanide partnership game will satisfy a little hunger. Maybe is a big word though. The thing that really intrigues me thinking about a game in Westeros would be to explore an extremely well done world that's true to the novels. I don't think I care if it's an mmo or rpg or even a game at all. I'd have a blast just with the imagery while running around King's Landing, The Eyrie, Winterfell, and everywhere else. |

Look, just because a setting is "grown up" doesn't mean the game will be grown up as well. And just because the books and the series are good doesn't really influence at all how the game is going to turn up. Game movie adaptations are the butt joke of gaming industry because they usually turn out to be crap. And why is that? Many reasons, but I'd say it is the laziness of the developers who think that the strength of the IP is enough to guarantee sales so they don't pay enough attention to quiality design or originality. So, in short... No. I don't think it would be a good idea. If a major dev did GoT mmorpg there's 99% chance it would be even crappier and more unimaginative than SW:TOR. To capture the theme of all those immoral lord and ladies npcs scheming against each other you'd need a radical rethinking of mmo paradigm and no one is going to do that when IP of that caliber is at stake. Again, look at the crap that is SW:TOR. Btw, look at "Mount & Blade" imo that is he closest to the atmosphere of GoT that I've ever seen in a pc game. |
